Unpaid Pastors May Be 'Future Of The Church' For Protestant Congregations

The 50 members of All Saints Episcopal Church in Hitchcock, Texas, are looking forward to December, when Mark Marmon will be ordained their priest.

One reason for the excitement? They won’t have to pay him.

A 57-year-old fly fishing guide, Marmon, whose wife is a lawyer, says he doesn’t want or need a church salary. He belongs to a growing breed of mainline Protestant clergy who serve congregations in exchange for little or no compensation.

Why John Y., ever hear of fires started by barbeque grills and propane tank explosions? 5 Worst Barbeque Disasters. This will short article will give some statistics on outdoor cooking. Scary.

By the way,

1 Timothy 5
17 Let the elders who rule well be considered worthy of double honor, especially those who work hard at preaching and teaching.
18 For the Scripture says, "YOU SHALL NOT MUZZLE THE OX WHILE HE IS THRESHING," and "The laborer is worthy of his wages."---NASB

If a pastor is spending a significant time taking care of the spiritual needs of a group of Christians, he deserves a wage.

great point, ya know, some fires start from electrical wiring inside a home, maybe we should eliminate electricity in the home too? And have you addressed the incoming Indians with fire on their arrows mentioned by John UK, that could be a real problem. Ultimately the fire we have to be concerned about is the one that burns eternally and is never extinguished.

Because then you won't get smoke in your eyes from the grill and fall onto the grill.

new agers worship their bodies, and would not like to go through dirth and trust in God like our ancestors ...
If I may interject.

I challenge you to trust in God and put diesel fuel in your petrol car. Duh!

Man, you sure love your car, don't you!

p.s. the vegetables I buy in my local supermarket are mainly imports, they all look identical in size and shape, have no taste whatever, and I am sure are doing me NO GOOD WHATEVER.

Oh and BTW, I am NOT a new ager, but a blood-bought child of God. So stick that in your cocaine pipe and smoke it, or your gin and tonic and drink it. Oh, but maybe you don't smoke and drink eh? Wonder why not.

I agree with Penny - times are changing! I believe the true church will be much stronger, more pure and truly set-apart than we see right now! I've been meeting with other brothers and sisters in a home for a number of years now. It's GOD, Himself, that matures His people, not (necessarily) a pastor.

the trending I'm seeing ......many mega churches protecting their turf and investments through compromise and smaller congregations not able to support their pastors or less and less. It may come to the point where believers meet with who they can in their home. I would not be surprised by this at all. There are large numbers of believers who have been leaving multiple denominations because of the false state worship, prosperity gospel, war mongering, abortion worshipping environment that has passed its way off as church. They are praying for strengthening during times of persecution that they will remain in the faith, while praying for their pretrib friends who expect Jesus to take us out of the fields that we sowed.

Judging from Rick Warren's comments, we are continuing on in this pattern.

Work is getting harder to come by, and to expect a pastor to take care of his family, in itself will be difficult. Perhaps "official" pastors will be the ones who's wives are outside the home working for obamacare, prescribing psychotropic drugs to children, and their kids going to public schools, while those who try to protect their family's body/soul, that know how to cook real meals and grow natural foods will have to be more creative about ministry.

Times are changing!
