SBC ethicists: Criteria for ‘just war’ not met
The use of chemical weapons against civilians is a human tragedy with moral urgency, but the United States should not intervene in Syria because the conditions for a “just war” have not been met, according to two Southern Baptist ethicists.

Russell D. Moore, president of the Southern Baptist Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission, said in an article on Religion News Service Sept. 3 that the regime of Syrian President Bashar al Assad is “lawless and tyrannical,” and the first principle of just war — a just cause — has been met.

“That said, there are other principles missing here, both to justify action morally and to justify it prudentially,” Moore stated. ...

so here's another "crazy guy" thing that Mr. Assad has done.

while studies show over and over again the harmful effects of gm foods, as American children get statistically sicker...

....Japan and Korea had to temporarily suspend wheat orders from America's northwest because non approved gm grain found in order, as they vehemently oppose gm seed for the health of their people.

many Europeans make laws banning gms for the health of their people.

Here we see, that among 100 articles in new Iraq gov, Bremer made sure there was provision for US monopoply GM grain, meaning that if an organic Iraqi farmer's grain crosspollinates with M seed, they will then be drug to court for "stealing" from M.

http://www.organicconsumers.org/articles/article_1867.cfm

now for the clincher, the "crazy" Assad has prevented this gm takeover even while being overrun by foreign backed rebels, to protect the health of his people, as he said.

those crazy nationalists thinking on behalf of their people!

Yes, Penny, good post you can look at the article that posted in my message to the later thread about Syria's chemical arsenal, and the futility of putting that under international control. But, Penny, a little more thought on the pipelines.

There is one natural gas pipeline through Syria, but there is also one through Turkey. Now URL I put up in the other thread, worried about Syria attacking the Turkish pipeline Ah, what isn't mentioned is that the real worry that Turkey will attack Syria and add parts of it to the new Ottoman Empire.

Moore, isn't he the member of the SBC that has to call up a Catholic bishop to see where to stand on ethics? One should never rush to war, if one can get what one wants without war, that's the better option.

However isn't it strange, that the Romish Church supported the KFOR operation, apparently e.g., Two Commanders KFOR Attend Consecration of New Roman Catholic Church, but won't support Christians in Muslim areas! Yes a New Crusade is needed, Timeline of the Islamic Crusades--The Truth about Islamic Imperialism.

Our churches cannot pretend that the west is not involved in groups that are martyring Christians in vast regions, with massive migration from one region to the next.

We cannot keep pretending that this is not occurring, for whatever group of people we do not want to offend, or our own fear or partisan allegiences.

We must be people of the Book! And our pursuit of truth and righteousness must not end when the partisanship changes in our country.... but rather we must hold all of our actions to the biblical standard.

Our habit has been to close our eyes when our "own" guy is in office, not seeing the seamlessness between partisan groups when it comes to pursuit of pipelines and other globalist interests.
Thank you for stepping out and SermonAudio for posting this article.

Good Post!

We (USA) are wicked vile bloodstained hypocrites. We can do such things as fain outrage over the people murdered with chemical weapons and turn a self-righteous blind eye to 50,000,000 plus babies aborted here in our own country while churches play (pretend to be) pro-life.

Or wickedly separate the Gospel and obedience to Christ from barely mentioning let alone doing anything to stop such evil.

Much learning and growing to do.

Russell Moore, I congratulate you for this first step in bringing the evangelical voice back into reasoning on the issue of foreign wars. This is a voice sorely needed, not just for the country and the world, but for our own spiritual health.
