The education materials that originate with the Department of Defense depict conservative organizations as ‚Äúhate groups‚ÄĚ and cite the Southern Poverty Law Center, which was named in a federal court case for having identified the Family Research Council as a ‚Äúhate group‚ÄĚ simply for adhering to a biblical perspective on homosexuality.

That identification, by his own account, led Floyd Lee Corkins II to arm himself and enter the FRC offices in Washington with the intention of killing as many people as he could. ...

James Barton wrote:
The value and worth of any religion is revealed by its effect upon life. Expressions of belief, be they ever so beautiful and perfect, are meaningless and without value if they fail to make beautiful and more perfect the lives of those whose belief they seem to voice. This is the test Christ puts, upon creed and religion as applied to His own followers, and the standard of performance has never been improved upon. The value of a religion cannot be measured by its influence upon the life of the individual believer only, for every adequate. religion must take into consideration communities of men and women, living in relation to each other....

In applying this test, distinction must be made between defects in the religion that inculcates or permits practices detrimental to human welfare, and the defects in individual adherents who ignorantly fail to apply the teachings of their faith or who misinterpret those teachings. It would be as manifestly unjust to charge the Inquisition to Christianity as to make Islam responsible for all of the acts of the Bahaists.

What is with the United States government anyway stating that adhering to the biblical teaching that homosexuality is an abomination is hate speech?
