Harvard study reveals gun control counterproductive
Once again, a study from an organization that you would never accuse of being “gun-loving” or “right-wing” seems to disprove the myth that the availability of handguns increases murder rates. In fact, it doesn’t.

The Harvard study attempts to answer the question of whether or not banning firearms would reduce murders and suicides. Researchers looked at crime data from several European countries and found that countries with HIGHER gun ownership often had LOWER murder rates.

Russia, for example, enforces very strict gun control on its people, but its murder rate remains quite high. In fact, the murder rate in Russia is four times higher than in the “gun-ridden” United States, cites the study. ”Homicide results suggest that where guns are scarce other weapons are substituted in killings.” In other words, the elimination of guns does not eliminate murder, and in the case of gun-controlled ...

If you don't think you need a gun, don't buy one. Please refrain from exercising dominion over others unfairly. It's not your business.

What do you mean we've done nothing? You know it's a 5 year felony to even be within 1,000 feet of a school armed, right?

I believe in gun control to a point. I think the average, law abiding citizen should have the right to bear arms, as our constitution states, to protect ouselves against those who want to harm us, and even our government.
As for sub machine guns, assault rifles, etc, I don't feel there is a need.

Forget the 'laws' - Just get rid of the guns. If you are a civilised country why do you all need guns and assault rifles to be so available??????????

IF it is as you say for the killing of all these criminals which are attacking you in vast numbers daily - Then you are advocating lynch mob rule and justice?????

The news from America about guns is that children are slaughtered at schools and you have done nothing about it?????

In other news, extensive studies prove that water is wet.

I'm really not seeing the law abiding gun owners shooting up people. What I do see is the mentally disturbed and the criminal element doing just that. Instead of trying to be like nazi germany , old communist Russia , and every other country who disarmed its citizens, here's a thought... Try enforcing the laws that are already in place. I don't own a gun . Don't have a problem with guns, the way this country is going and this govt , I think every citizen who is not a lawbreaker should have a gun. Teachers should be armed. To each his own. If you like guns fine , if not then go live in Cuba or some other socialist country where the govt tells you what to do and how to live. Go enjoy your slavery to a govt elsewhere.

A) and C) Israel in the middle east surrounded by nations who want to remove them from the map. AND Hitler's policies ....

Good analogies for your nation.
However somewhat unrealistic.

B) Keeping guns so accessible will not solve your crime stats.

Whats it to be Playing cowboys or protecting kids? Don't rush this now!!!

Just one more thought to ponder. One of the policies hitler implemented before war was to strip its citizens of their guns. We all know that turned out. Until Jesus Christ comes back in all his glory people are gonna commit atrocious acts against each other.
John 3:19 "And this is the condemnation that light is come into the world and men loved darkness rather than light because their deeds were evil."
The problem is not guns its the people.

Think, actually Israel infact arms its teachers and nobody is dumb enough to try to shoot up one of their schools. They learned real quick with all the violence they have to put up with. Getting rid of guns will not solve anything like the arrival clearly shows. Criminal do not follow the law that's why they're criminals. They are not gonna follow gun laws and they certainly aren't gonna give their guns up. Is the government gonna reduce their guns? No and that's another reason we need to be armed to protect ourselves from a government that's growing more and more oppressive everyday. That's why we have a second ammendment.

You, like all gun control advocates, are over simplifying the problem. Plus, does it matter if Russia has 1 gun for every 100 in the US, they still have TIGHTER gun laws and HIGHER gun related crimes. Further, America has had guns, statistically in more households in the past than now, and has only recently seen higher gun violence simultaneously with the reduction of a Christian consensus. It is the moral malaise and not inanimate objects that serves as the very real problem.

""The Harvard study attempts to answer the question of whether or not banning firearms would reduce murders and suicides""

And Yet one of the other news items today is quote;
"Christian School Arms Teachers With Guns in Arkansas; 'We Have Right to Protect Children,' Says Pastor'"

The reason why the school is arming the teachers is because of the accessibility of guns in the US - a gun store arsenal on every street corner.

Obviously Harvard people are not very smart.

Other countries do not arm their teachers.

Of course other countries do not have thousands of gun store arsenals in every shopping mall in every town and city.

The US comparing itself with Russia is a non starter comparison. Russians have a long way to go to establish real civilised society and mentality.

Get rid of the guns- reduce the slaughter.
