Syria gas 'kills hundreds,' Security Council meets

Syria's opposition accused government forces of gassing hundreds of people on Wednesday by firing rockets that released deadly fumes over rebel-held Damascus suburbs, killing men, women and children as they slept.

With the death toll estimated between 500 and 1,300, what would be the world's most lethal chemical weapons attack since the 1980s prompted an emergency meeting of the U.N. Security Council in New York.

The council did not explicitly demand a U.N. investigation of the incident, although it said "clarity" was needed and welcomed U.N. chief Ban Ki-moon's calls for a prompt investigation by the U.N. inspection team in Syria, led by Ake Sellstrom. ...

No, they know when to keep their noses out of something, not that they don't have a lot to say about it, but this isn't one of their comments, it's actually from a person who voted for Obama, and the commentary appears in the Wall St. Journal! What a combination! The Failed Grand Strategy in the Middle East. His conclusions have force, and he states them in a politer way, then lets say Caroline Glick would.

No, the Israelis are staying out of the Syrian situation because it's a lose - lose situation for them. Assad has be fairly scrupulous to not bring on major Israeli strikes -- though he did get a lot of missiles destroyed this year-- and the Israelis aren't going to over-react. They don't need to get lives needlessly lost. So, the Israelis are avoiding this conflict like the plague, since they know it's a no-win situation.

what a surprising thing to say. are Israelis somehow involved in the matters of Syria?

Nobody is blaming israelis

The concern is the Syrian rebels(the ones destroying Christian villages) faked the gas attack in a desperate attempt to involve the US and Europe in a war they are losing

Jim -- one thing you are missing, although correct about Islm not able to give salvation to mankind, (because salvation is in Jesus Christ, the Messiah), is that all men are inadequate when compared to a holy God. and all men are apt to sin. so we grownups have to look back at prior events and put things together....Christianity is not a blind faith. the gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, John are testimonies, they are journalistic records of the events of Christ's life with us.

but what matters more is correct information. throwing all together and declaring them guilty may be ok for us couch potatoes, but in the real world, the west had its hand in the game from the very beginning, like I said, we have to be grownups, and if we want to hide in our cloisters and say things that make us feel better, than we might as well turn the lights out in the church and go home. what I want with events like these, are cold facts -- not hearsay and prop.

penelope, the reasons are obvious why this is happening, it's the Inadequacy of Islam

The Russians and Chinese nixed any serious condemnation of Syria because they are allies to Syria and also Iran, so waiting them is a waste of time.

When Muhammadans aren't killing Christians, Jews, people of any other religion, they are killing each other, e.g., 4 Egyptian Shi'ites killed in attack by Sunni Muslims.

should always look at motive when looking at a terrible tragedy. it might be informative to see what Russians are saying about this attack.... of course, if we forget mic cane and the funding and all that, once again, the American Christian community can be roused to give away their freedoms for what is coming.... I would just suggest, that this MSM which has been playing transgenders and the like, may not necessarily be the best source... and perhaps, once again, we should look at the evidence, at least wait for it.

Hey Napalm-Bombs:

"If thou hast done foolishly in lifting up thyself, or if thou hast thought evil, lay thine hand upon thy mouth. Surely the churning of milk bringeth forth butter, and the wringing of the nose bringeth forth blood: so the forcing of wrath bringeth forth strife." (Proverbs 30:32, 33 KJV)
