Why Do So Many Churchgoers Have Abortions?

According to a study by the Guttmacher Institute (Planned Parenthood‚Äôs affiliate research group), "Almost three-quarters of women obtaining abortions in 2008 reported a religious affiliation. The largest proportion were Protestant (37 percent), and most of the rest said that they were Catholic (28 percent) or that they had no religious affiliation (27 percent). One in five abortion patients identified themselves as born-again, evangelical, charismatic or fundamentalist; 75 percent of these were Protestant.‚ÄĚ

Though the study suggests that attending religious services regularly indicates a lower-than-average rate of abortion, the fact remains: Professing Christians abort their children in large numbers. We estimate one in three adults in America today is the parent of an aborted child, and that rate is likely the same both inside and outside the church.

More times than I can count, I’ve heard this ...

From the article:"One in five abortion patients identified themselves as born-again, evangelical, charismatic or fundamentalist"

I have no trouble believing/accepting the rest, but I'm surprised about anyone in these denominations having abortions. I thought people in these denominations tend to know the full truth and abhor murder, etc as a result. Not that they are without sin, errors, or free from making mistakes, but murder? I would just think that irregardless of the situation, murder would just never be an option; knowing how God looks upon it and knowing that it is from Satan himself.
I don't know, I guess anyone is capable of anything but I'm just surprised that any supposedly born again Christian would be capable of murdering a baby, etc.

That may be true, Angela, they could be lying, however I suspect the numbers are right. There is often little difference between many who profess to be Christians and those who do not. Divorce, cohabitation, pregnancies out of wedlock. You name it. Statistically there is usually little difference. But the way is narrow, few are saved, and many who called themselves Christians will be in hell

I just can't use statistics from the pro-abort Guttmacher Institute in good conscience. If they are murderers, couldn't they also be liars?

"Why do so many churchgoers have abortions?". Simple- THEY'RE NOT TRULY SAVED!!! Why does it have to be so complicated? True Christians that were following the Bible would not have abortions. The conclusion is- they must not be following the Bible. I don't understand how people in the world cannot comprehend that almost all churches are different. We don't agree with all the churches out there, but they group us together as one.

"Almost three-quarters of women obtaining abortions in 2008 reported a religious affiliation."

"religious affiliation"

Are they really so stupid as to believe that is the true Biblical Church??

Next they'll be telling us that they believe Benny Hinn is a Christian.

The church today means Episcopalian organisation which make sodomites their bishops, or delete verses of the Scripture so that the abomination of sins can be practised by the people. Their religion is NOT Christianity - It is Liberalism the voice of Satan.

As the Lord predicted through His servant Paul; "For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables." 2Tim 4:3.

The teachers they choose are the satanic Liberals who wouldn't know the Bible from the bus timetable.

Since "contraception is widely available" there would naturally be widespread fornication and it logically follows that they would line up for an abortion afterwards. It's also not too surprising to hear that abortion would become prevalent in churches today. More than most, Christians would want to hide the sin of fornication. There is no fear of God.
