39 Christian Students in Eritrea Reportedly Beaten, Imprisoned for Failing to ‘Renounce Christ’
On July 13, after completing eight months of academic studies and four months of military training — a requirement in Eritrea — 17,000 students of the 26th national service intake graduated. The 39 Christian students mentioned above were not granted this privilege, though.

Instead of following the procedural progression to Senior Secondary school to complete grade 12, these students, including 11 females who have also completed the training, were sentenced to severe military punishment at Sawa Military training center. No, I wasn't going to start another conversation...ha-ha. Oh boy. Yikes. No thanks. Uh-uh, nope, forget it, no way, not happenin', yeah right, think again.

I will comment though that they are just kids. An experience like this would be horrifying for anyone, but I'm always more concerned for the children because of their maturity level, lack of life experience, and potential to be abused. When I see a headline like this, I always try to put myself in their place. I try to imagine how they are feeling, what they are thinking, what they are experiencing; physically and emotionally. Looking from the outside we can't possibly relate, we can only try and not put aside praying thay God will bring them home to their parents.
