DoD: Playboy, Penthouse are not indecent

Adult magazines including Playboy, Penthouse and Nude are permitted for sale on military installations because they do not meet the definition of indecent material under federal law, a top Pentagon official said.

Frederick Vollrath, assistant secretary of defense for readiness and force management, made that response to a complaint from Morality in Media, an anti-pornography group that complained in June about the sale of those publications on Defense Department property.

The group contends that the display and sale of adult magazines in military exchanges amounts to a violation of the Military Honor and Decency Act of 1996, which prohibits the sale or rental at military exchanges of material in which “the dominant theme ... depicts or describes nudity, including sexual or excretory activities or organs in a lascivious way.” ...

true very true it is an epidimic in our world today,however my point was that however they want to call it porn is porn pointing out there obviosly wanting to keep the magazines up for profit and findind any reasons to keep it up if it were not pornagraphy then it should be sould to anyone and then we could really see how parents treat it as porn or not

AAFES to stop selling adult magazines
Really?....
if by federal law these maqazines are noe sexualy explicit and are not under said mandate that excludes pornography. Then why not pull them from the back of all stores in the us,pull the black covers off and sale them to all ages? there not legally porn according to these guys.
Lets see how long the American public will allow that to happened to there children lets see how many mothers and fathers deem it as porn? how many do not take a stand on that.
the truth is that its porn they know it but they make money from it.same as the liquor and cigaret

AAFES to stop selling adult magazines amid slumping

nudity, including sexual or excretory

Group wants DoD to ban porn from bases, camps

activities or organs in a lascivious way.”

Vollrath responded to the group with a July 22 letter saying that a review board had looked at those magazine and concluded that “based on the totality of each magazine’s content, they were not sexually explicit under [the federal law].”

Really?....
if by federal law these maqazines are noe sexualy explicit and are not under said mandate that excludes pornography. Then why not pull them from the back of all stores in the us,pull the black covers off and sale them to all ages? there not legally porn according to these guys.
