The Problem With Reza Aslan’s Book About Jesus

Question: When does National Public Radio fawn over a book about Jesus? Answer: When it attempts to undercut just about every basic tenet of Christian faith.

NPR calls Reza Aslan’s new book, Zealot: The Life and Times of Jesus of Nazareth (Random House), “meticulously researched.” That’s exactly what it is not, unless Aslan took half of his research and meticulously ignored it.

Aslan states as fact, not theory, that “the gospels are not, nor were they ever meant to be, a historical documentation of Jesus’ life. These are not eyewitness accounts of Jesus’ words and deeds. They are testimonies of faith composed by communities of faith written many years after the events they describe.”

That’s what theologically liberal commenters propose, but Aslan either skipped or banished from his consideration the theologically conservative half, which states that Matthew, Mark, and Luke reported eyewitness ...

Apparently, too much attention given to another writer of fiction like that Brown fellow.
I forgot to add to this comment, (well really I was using a tablet, which makes me laconic ) such material as, he Da Vinci Code: “Let Us Make God in Our Image”. Perhaps Dan & Raza should teach a class at the infamous party school Raza is now at? University of Iowa named nation’s top ‘Party School’. Anyway, our Muslim author should deal with such topics as the Inadequacy of Islam and The Qur'an and why Muslims [are] "Lagging Behind".

The short article was good, but unfortunately liberals have been around for sometime on the media, such as the Jesus Seminar, which one might suspect Asian is a member of? Anyway, Evidence for the Historical Jesus -Is the Jesus of History the Jesus of Faith?/Program 2 a good commentary, Apparently John Ankerberg likes what Dr.Gary Habermas, because he references quite a few more of his articles here, though I have scanned them yet myself, Gary Habermas' articles (well really transcripts.) .

God wrote the Bible.
People who don't have faith cannot know this truth.
Aslan's book has been written by someone who just doesn't know, comprehend or understand.

Your post reminds me of a very telling reality. Jesus, the real Jesus, who sinners have so inexcuseabley reject is nevertheless quite attractive to lost and fallen people and this "quite attractiveness" of Jesus Christ as He really, NOT as He is wretchedly misrepresented by ______fill in the blank_________ is something we should determinedly hold onto in our witness.

A reality that Ryan Fullerton wonderfully touches on in his sermon:
The Value of Sinners, Prostitutes, and Drunkards

There is a great freedom that comes along with not having to believe in a God. If the Bible is not true, then Christianity is a farce. I think many choose to remain willfuly ignorant because of the temoorary freedom it gives them to say, think, and do whatever they like without eternal repercussion.

After I calm down from my natural knee jerk response, I realize this only proves the Gospels even more to me. Here it is, 2013...2013!, and people are still trying to debunk Christianity. I have never seen, heard, or read anything from anyone trying to debunk Buddha, or, more importantly, Mohammad the false prophet. No one uses those two names in vain because of their lack of connection to the holy. Christ said "when the Son of Man is lifted up, he will draw all men to Himself". I know this means the elect, but also believe it means those who won't believe as well. He continues to draw man's attention to praise or denounce, only proving the verse that every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of the Father." Man will do this willingly, according to grace, or will compulsively do this at the Judgment. Pray Mr. Aslan does it now, willingly.
