Four out of 5 U.S. adults struggle with joblessness, near-poverty or reliance on welfare for at least parts of their lives, a sign of deteriorating economic security and an elusive American dream.
Survey data exclusive to The Associated Press points to an increasingly globalized U.S. economy, the widening gap between rich and poor, and the loss of good-paying manufacturing jobs as reasons for the trend.
Hardship is particularly growing among whites, based on several measures. Pessimism among that racial group about their families' economic futures has climbed to the highest point since at least 1987. In the most recent AP-GfK poll, 63 percent of whites called the economy "poor."...

At what point do they have any culpability for the economic policies they put in place? Can't use excuse the mess they were handed because it was far worse under Carter (remember the misery index?) and by now in the Reagan administration the economy was booming. In fact Reagan ran on the fact things were better and won in landslide election winning 49 states.
I don't think you'll convince Jim. He only reads with his left eye, and listens with his left ear.

"As the government continues to shut down family farms, your ability to make good food choices diminishes"
most everyone is being put on the gm grid, and as I said, the abortionist I talked with said everyone would be put on gms (according to agenda 21) and people will be sick and on synthetics.
a local group of children here did an experiment and fed some of their chickens gm grain and the other the real and natural God-given seed.
the gm grain chickens grew to three times the normal size, had trouble walking and had less affection for their babies.....
maybe the Lord has just deemed it His will to send people my way, but I'm surrounded by young people with severe medical issues that just didn't exist a couple generations ago.... the statistics show mass increases in autoimmune disease in children, like diabetes.....
"Signs of declining economic security"... Um, our national debt has been "stuck" for 70 days now... If you mean by "signs" a gushing neck wound, sirens, red flashing strobe lights, I'm with ya! God's in control, but if people can't see we are in some dire straights, it's going to be a rude awaking. God is always in control, Psalm 37.
"The risks of poverty also have been increasing in recent decades, particularly among people ages 35-55, coinciding with widening income inequality"
A nation which rejects God is not blessed by God.
The western nations are all going the same way - poverty increase and moral decline.
We are arguing here in the UK over a tax called the "Bedroom tax" which politicians are using to raise some money. The idea is that if you live in council housing, which invariably are the poorest group, and you have an unused bedroom then they tax you for that room. Many of the people who have an unused bedroom are old folks whose kids have left home, they are being attacked by these greedy politicians and bureaucrats.
Conservative, Labour and Lib.Dem. social policy today is, "the rich get richer and the poor get stuffed."
Prov 14:31 He that oppresseth the poor reproacheth his Maker: but he that honoureth him hath mercy on the poor.
Prov 22:16 He that oppresseth the poor to increase his riches, and he that giveth to the rich, shall surely come to want.
I don't need to reference statistics to be able to say that we have precisely the same situation in Australia. I am among those statistics. Revelation 6:6 KJV And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine. Rev. 6: 6.
