In the Beginning Was the Word; Now the Word Is on an App
For millions of readers around the world, a wildly successful free Bible app, YouVersion, is changing how, where and when they read the Bible.

Built by LifeChurch.tv, one of the nation’s largest and most technologically advanced evangelical churches, YouVersion is part of what the church calls its “digital missions.” They include a platform for online church services and prepackaged worship videos that the church distributes free. A digital tithing system and an interactive children’s Bible are in the works.

It’s all part of the church’s aspiration to be a kind of I.T. department for churches everywhere. YouVersion, with over 600 Bible translations in more than 400 languages, is by far the church’s biggest success. The app is nondenominational, including versions embraced by Catholics, Russian Orthodox and Messianic Jews. This month, the app reached 100 million downloads, placing it in the ...

I actually read the article I don't like it. If I wanted an app from a particular church, I would certainly use SoundWords. I'm pretty sure that it agrees with my church's theology. By the way, since I can't access Google store from my Android devices, the above looks like one of the first places that it is available to the "general" public. I also believe it doesn't work on my earliest Android tablet, but if you want to see an app, not mentioned by the article or by me --before-- take a look at that one.
Sorry 'bout that! that's for the Window's phones!

avidreader, yes, the later versions of And Bible will read what Scriptures you want, with versions of Android than Froyo.

I also like the map feature you can have with it. By the way perhaps of the uncopyrighted maps you can get with it the "Smith Atlas" would be the best. I suppose my main complaint is that it doesn't have the Webster's 1913 Dictionary on it.

Anyway, it is probably the one that will work on the different Android products, it can be run from the SD card, and that can be gotten from a variety of sites.

I've had the And Bible app for years...it is definitely a great Bible app. Bible.is has a great audio drama Bible.

If you have an Android device get And Bible Yes, for the KJVO types it most definitely has the AV with or without Strong's Concordance/Dictionary, I believe. Unfortunately it doesn't have the NASB, but it does have the ESV.

Yes, it is on Google Store and the Amazon Android Store as well. (It should always be free no matter where it is.) I use it and its great. No smartphone or tablet should be without it, and it does run on even some earlier versions of Android such as Froyo.
