Higher Education: Brainwashing 101

‚ÄúLanguage is the source of misunderstanding,‚ÄĚ said the French writer Antoine de Saint-Exupery. But a confusion of tongues was not the cause of Abigail Beardsley‚Äôs consternation over what she was expected to learn in a French language course she took at Penn State University in the spring of 2007. Described in the college catalogue as a course in French language and culture, it inexplicably included a viewing of the Michael Moore film, Sicko, an English-language ‚Äúdocumentary‚ÄĚ about inadequacies of the healthcare system in the United States and a paean to the state-run medical care in other lands. The following semester, Beardsley addressed a formal complaint to the chairman of the university‚Äôs French Department about the insertion of a movie about the American practice of medicine in a course that, she wrote, was supposed to be about ‚Äúreal-life language use, the integration of language and culture and ...

It will sure be nice when Jim catches up with current events. Bush has been out of office for FIVE (5) YEARS. Funny how Jim never says anything about the current OCCUPIER of the White House, the anti-christ son of perdition impostor from Kenya!

Jim, this will "probably" be my last comment but once in a blue moon, I browse s.a. news to keep in touch with Christian current events. Expecting our 10th. grandchild now, time is of the essence.

Ah, Savedbygrace, you mean, Penn State Falls Into a Pit. We are happy that ...Graham Spanier came --from-- Uni. of Nebr. Lincoln. Apparently the queer community here was crying and weeping when he left.

I should have pointed out women, are usually better students at universities, they usually not hung over (usually) as much as men students are. In fact men still depend on the women to do their homework etc. for them. So apologies to the young woman in the article if I lumped her in with a large portion of the public university student body.

Oh, you mean "Enron" Bush? Enron's Close Ties to Bush, or for a little later period keep an eye out for Jr., in fact, if Ricky Perry is going to try to run for President again, he'd better prove isn't Bush, Jr. Jr.

Yes, Chris, it is a relief I don't have to bite my tongue because of Rendering To Caesar: A Biblical Perspective On Government! Besides, we want to avoid a repeat of Baby Face.

Colleges and universities have been hotbed for sexual immorality for a long time. In regards to Penn State, it is about as liberal as you are going to get. I believe they were the first university to sponsor a homosexual convention. Also, Michael Geer, of the Pennsylvania Family Institute, wrote an article in "Capitol Watch", stating how the university actually had a "sex faire", where individuals could enter and engage in whatever immoral activity they desired. Yes, in the good old U.S.A.

This writer should have been worked up about the Catholic influence and control of public universities. By the way, Catholic and atheist teachers always seem to get along quite well, probably because both theologies are from Satan.
