U.S. city looks to penalize Bible believers

Think it’s hot in Texas these days? Just wait a few weeks, until the San Antonio City Council ends its summer hiatus and resumes work on a proposed change to its nondiscrimination ordinances that apparently will discriminate against all who take the Bible at its word and follow it.

That’s because the change creates a penalty for those who ever exhibit a “bias,” which clearly could include adopting the Bible’s condemnation of homosexuality, with a permanent ban on participation in city government, business or employment.

Opponents of the plan, which would add “sexual orientation” and “gender identity” to the nondiscrimination ordinances, charge it is a violation of constitutional Article VI, paragraph 3, which states, “[N]o religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States.” ...

LOL, thanks Christopher. It looks like he is addressing the wording of the Declaration of Independence, but not sure why we need to repent of that, so just getting clarification.

I had a comment but don't want to be guilty of putting words in your mouth or misrepresenting what you are saying. So, if you are paying attention to this thread, of exactly what are we to repent? How would this repentance manifest itself in our lives? Thanks for your response.

I think without any hesitation we should identity those who support this legislation, which prohibits vocal, outspoken, Bible-believing Christians from having any place at all in the "public square" (through establishing business, running for office, etc.)as radical Communists who hate the U.S. Constitution and who are attempting to annul it by treasonous disregard for it. I mean that in all seriousness. Anyone who supports legislation like this is a God-hating Marxist revolutionary who hates the very idea of the United States of America as our founding fathers conceived it-- that is, as a constitutional republic founded on the recognition of unalienable God-given rights and inviolable divine law-- "the laws of nature and nature's God"-- as the foundation of all just civil law.

We've gotten so used to being free from persecution here we think its the norm for Christianity, we've forgotten history and turned a blind eye to the many around the world who suffer for the faith.

I would say the American church is long overdue for a cleansing, but who am I to question Gods timing? Persecution certainly does seem near at hand though.

Looks Like Br. Ruben Israel And The Street-Preachers & Holy Spiritual Warriors Of The United States Of America Will Have To Hit The "Sawdust" Tail At San Antonio, TX, Really Soon:

As In TOMORROW MORNING !

"CRY ALOUD, SPARE NOT, LIFT UP THY VOICE LIKE A TRUMPET, AND SHEW MY PEOPLE THEIR TRANSGRESSIONS, AND THE HOUSE OF JACOB THEIR SINS..."--ISAIAH 58

"THIS KNOW ALSO, THAT IN THE LAST DAYS PERILOUS TIMES SHALL COME.

FOR MEN SHALL BE LOVERS OF THEIR OWN SELVES, COVETOUS, BOASTERS, PROUD, BLASPHEMERS, DISOBEDIENT TO PARENTS, UNTHANKFUL, UNHOLY,

WITHOUT NATURAL AFFECTION, TRUCEBREAKERS, FALSE ACCUSERS, INCONTINENT, FIERCE, DISPISERS OF THOSE THAT ARE GOOD,

TRAITORS, HEADY, HIGHMINDED, LOVERS OF PLEASURES MORE THAN LOVERS OF GOD;

HAVING A FORM OF GODLINESS, BUT DENYING THE POWER THEREOF: FROM SUCH TURN AWAY.

FOR OF THIS SORT ARE THEY WHICH CREEP INTO HOUSES, AND LEAD CAPTIVE SILLY WOMEN LADEN WITH SINS, LED AWAY WITH DIVERS LUSTS,

EVER LEARNING, AND NEVER ABLE TO COME TO THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE TRUTH.

NOW AS JANNES AND JAMBRES WITHSTOOD MOSES, SO DO THESE ALSO RESIST THE TRUTH: MEN OF CORRUPT MINDS, REPROBATE CONCERNING THE FAITH.

BUT THEY SHALL PROCEED NO FURTHER: FOR THEIR FOLLY SHALL BE MANIFEST UNTO ALL MEN, AS THEIR'S ALSO WAS."--1 TIMOTHY CHAPTER 3 !

Sooner than you think it's gonna happen in all states. But the church isn't asleep . Don't get me wrong , I'm just as guilty. Forgive us as a church Lord, strip us of all the show and charismatic garbage and give us old time religion. The one that truly changes lives.

"The analysis also contends businesses “run by people of faith will be subject to criminal penalties if they refuse to provide services that conflict with their religious beliefs relating to homosexuality.”"

Looks like the bakers of cakes are aimed at by this part of the article.

Not only will the Christian have to love their enemy but also their local homosexuals and not make any protest about their abomination; - OR tell them God proclaims they will go to hell for their sins.

Homosexuals and their Liberal supporters now run the moral standards of the society. "What moral standards?" I hear you cry.

So lets face it folks Satan has won this one and God does not bless nations who ditch the Bible so that the sin can be retained. The wrath of God is upon the western nations. The end is nigh???

And the church - What church? Is there a church left which obeys the Bible? Yes? Oh well if you say so. But they don't have any influence in the nations do they?

Titus 1:15 Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled.
16 They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.

Amen pastor Hess! The main failure in America is the preaching in its churches. We need to have faith in the power of the Word to transform lives and in that way transform society but the future seems very dark indeed.

Pastor Karl Hess:

Conservative Christians have failed to stop the juggernaut of gay marriage because we have embraced the values of the sensate culture. America is not ruled and normed by Scripture, and so any appeal to it in defense of “traditional marriage” appears as nothing more than special pleading, an appeal to what pleases us. Christians who follow the “pleasure ethic,” who divorce at a higher rate than the unbelieving world, who view marriage chiefly as a means of self-gratification and not an opportunity for service and sacrifice are in no position to speak a prophetic word to society. Our God is no longer the Holy One Who loves creatures that are in open rebellion against Him and takes upon Himself our just punishment, but a god who “loves us and accepts us just as we are”, a judge who never judges. Our sermons are therapeutic, and even “the best lack all conviction.” Thus saith the Lord—although let us preface by saying that we love and accept everyone, regardless of his or her chosen lifestyle.

If “marriage equality” is the law of the land, then technically, metaphysically, the thing that the state offers by way of contract is not marriage in any real sense. Government mandated “marriage equality” turns real marriage into a mere civil union.

Oh, well here we go again. Not a day goes by in which the gays are not given some more good news. I always wonder how it is that they became so powerful so quickly. I now wonder if there are simply more homosexuals/bisexuals, than I had imagined. Now, I believe that they are present on every decision making panel, from the smallest town council to corporate boards, to the courts and government institutions. Otherwise, how is it that they are such a force to be reckoned with?
