A Message to Trayvon Martin Sympathizers
I haven't touched on the Trayvon Martin issue because race matters in this country are the paralysis of the American people. To constructively discuss Trayvon would require empathy, introspection and an understanding of America's social and economic history. This is why the open forums we have seen thus far seem to fuel more ignorance and bias than reasonable debate.

To be brutally honest, the only reason people are even aware of Trayvon Martin is because it became a topic within mainstream news and pop culture. Meaning: News directors saw it as a profitable, sensational story. Hundreds of blacks die annually in South Side Chicago without even a blurb. Trayvon isn't in the mainstream news for any reason other than ratings and profit.

In this country, if it isn't streamlined through mainstream media and pop culture, it doesn't seem to warrant national debate. Our "government" continues to wreak ...

JPW, great comment, although from the article you referenced, as I too had seen it, the headline is a tad misleading. From the article "....shows a stunning four out of five U.S. adults struggle with joblessness, are near poverty, or rely on welfare for AT LEAST PARTS OF THEIR LIVES." Big difference than the impression that it gives which states that 80% are currently near poverty.

Street preacher, your response is why the black community paint with a broad brush all whites as being racist in their outlook especially when you consider that Zimmerman knew NOTHING about Martin's background at the time of the incident, but you are entitled to your opinion.

Some suffering is self-induced. The victim mentality is strong today, and necessary to justify one's anger at whoever is blamed for one's plight. Blaming self is not popular.

The Issue, From The "Get-Go" Was NEVER About Race; It Was & Is All About Self-Defence & The Right To Bear Arms In Self-Defence: PERIOD !

Florida Statute 776.032: 776.032 Immunity From Criminal Prosectuion And Civil Action Justifiable Use Of Force. -

(1)A person who uses force as permitted in s.776.012, s.776.013, or s.776.031 is justified in using force and is immune from criminal prosecution and civil action for the use of such force, unless the person against whom force was used is a law enforcement officer, as defined in s943.10(14), who was acting in the performance of his or her official duties and the officer identified himself or herself in accordance with any applicagle law or the person using force knew or reasonably should have known that the person was a law enforcement officer. As used in this subsection, the term "criminal prosecution" includes arresting, detaining in custody, and charging or prosecuting the defendant..."

Since Trayvon Martin Was NOT A "law enforcement officer", But Rather An Out-Of-Control Dangerous & Deadly "Gang-Banger"--With A History Of Violence Against People Opposite His Race, Color &-Or "Creed"--: Mr. Zimmerman Was JUSTIFIED, In Fear Of & For His (Zimmerman's) Life, IN SHOOTING TRAYVON MARTIN DEAD !

*ON TO NEXT SELF-DEFENCE CASE !

I ask anyone letting them stir your emotions to read this article, and for that matter any pastor thinking that after next election this will all go away:

http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2013-07-28/80-us-adults-are-near-poverty-rely-welfare-or-are-unemployed

"80% of US Adults are Near Poverty, Rely on Welfare, Or are Unemployed"

We are in hard times and the Body of Christ needs to be a testimony. Time for pastors to quit pretending. Time for others to open their eyes and realize that everyone around them is suffering the same, not just one group or another.

"After this, I beheld, and lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands; And cried out with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon
the throne, and unto the Lamb" Rev 7:9

too real, hope you read this, and know, I am praying for peace with Christ.

Obama/Bush same team. where's the sackcloth for the people of Libya? what of those in Chicago left unable to protect themselves?

of the common American folk, this currency crisis that we are in, after jobs, manufacturing shipped out, and the food supply forced into a sickly gm monopoly, is affecting all peoples of America.

America's in for hard times and they want us to blame each other. I beg all not to fall for it. they will likely feed distrust from both sides.

I talk with folk of all persuasion, common link, they are hurting, losing jobs, health issues from the food, and they see through the race baiting.

think about it, much of the inciting, is coming from prestigious white men. why should anyone of any people fall for this nonsense?

I have never felt any privilege over blacks. Blacks have the same exact opportunities as anyone else. Just like a white, they can choose to get an education or sell drugs. They can be free and find their position in society, or they can live a life of crime and die behind bars. They can choose to get a job to support themselves, or they can have unwanted babies that they use to live off the taxpayer. Blacks are in positions of power, just like whites are, and can make as much as they want and go as far as they choose to if they choose to.
You are living in the distant past, not unlike the rest of the racists and you are blinded by your own unresolved hatred.

America is becoming more black and brown, less white. This scares the hell out of white people who can't face the fact that white privilege is crumbling in front of the and you can do anything about it.

By the way, this was a disgusting comment, yet you are the one accusing?
Hmmm. Seems to me that you of all people shouldn't be judging anyone. Ever.

2real4U,

You are certainly not speaking for me, and did you read the thread from the beginning? Are you aware of how incredibly racist YOUR posts are? Of course you don't because the real racists of this world are so busy accusing others that they don't even know how guilty they are themselves.
I haven't a racist bone. I was raised in the inner city, have had black friends, black girlfriends, and a black uncle.
Please copy and paste everything that you claim was racist so this can be addressed.
Please be careful with who you call racist when it appears to me that you are guilty of the very thing you are condemning others for.

The problem with white people is that you believe America is in Gods good graces as longs as your culture is dominate. America is failing because the white power structure failed to see the error in their ways while the majority of white people stood by and never questioned where these actions would lead because you we're content on not every having any empathy for anyone but your own kind.

Your America is paying for its sins. How do we know It isn't Gods plan to destroy the white power structure, white people think they are to good for Gods rebuke.

you can blame it all on (former)Miami-Dade County Schools Police Chief Hurley, who had a chance to arrest Mr. Martin when he was found with jewelry and burglar's tools (in his school backpack) shortly after a home was burglarized near his high school. the jewelry items matched those reported stolen, but Hurley did not arrest Mr. Martin. Hurley was demoted after this came to light (he was using the state law to declare them mentally ill, needing evaluation, rather than the state law that said they should be arrested, all so that his statistics would show less crime in schools), and has been fired after sexual harrassment charges were made against him.

Preface by saying I use the KJV. God is certainly not limited by the English, and nobody I know is doing surveys in heaven asking the Lord what He thinks. So, while you come up with good responses as to why to use the KJV otherwise in your post, why would you make a statement that cannot be substantiated?

Good info.
This too is good advice, and the articles do not take up too much precious time. Pastors Ralph Ovadal and David Cloud also have some good sermons on the subject here on SA, as well as John Thackway of England, most excellent.

Gotcha...thanks. I have seen side by side verse comparisons usibg different Bibles and some of the differences can be astonishing.
I'll just stick with the King James because I don't think I've ever heard anyone criticize it doctrinally.
Thanks...

It's a big subject, brother. My advice to you is to ignore ANYONE who claims that any position in the Bible version debate can be proven. I say that because nothing at all can be proven. There are some facts, and linguists have reams of paper with greek texts written on them, but because all of the autographs have long since turned to dust, it is down to choosing which ms copies we utilise in the translating of a Bible.

The only way forward with it then is to rely on God's Spirit to teach you what is his word and what is not.

Investigation will take you years, and maybe even tear you away from doing God's will. If you believe that the KJV is God's word, then trust it with all your heart. God does not want his people to doubt his word, so who do you think is at the back of all these modern versions which have done no good whatsoever?

Thanks, MS and Murwel. I always come back to the King James because it doesn't seem to change and it's been around for a long time. Seems to me that it's the only one that you can memorize verses from and still quote them in unison 20yrs later. Although, I do like the New King James for more fluid reading. I don't feel like I'm reading Shakespeare. What concerns me though is that the King James was obviously translated long ago, so the NKJ has different translators and wonder what doctrines they believe. I guess I should research all of this. Problem I have is that for every negative comment I read on whatever subject, there is a positive from someone else with seemingly valid arguments.
I guess the King James is just the safest decision.

The NASB: is it just as good as the King James, only without the antiquated English?
So I'm wondering: is the general consensus that the King James and the NASB are the two preferred Bibles for born again Christians?
The NASB and the modern versions come from a different Greek text for the NT - than does the KJV.

God has been using the KJV for four centuries. HE seems happy with the outcome.

The modern versions use contributions from heretics like Westcott, Hort, Nestle and Aland.

Why we use the King James Version of the Bible
