'Reinterpret your Bible': Bishop bashes gay marriage opponents

The Bishop of Salisbury, the Rt Rev Nicholas Holtam, thinks Christians need to reinterpret the Bible in the same way they had over the issues of slavery and apartheid.

Bishop Holtam, who was appointed to the role in 2011, said attitudes towards homosexuality have changed "considerably" over the last fifty years and allowing gay marriage would actually strengthen the institution.

In a letter to the Telegraph, he said: "Sometimes Christians have had to rethink the priorities of the Gospel in the light of experience. ...

Holtam said,"Sometimes Christians have had to rethink the priorities of the Gospel in the light of experience."

Really?

Galatians 1:8
But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God’s curse!

How can the man look so happy with that millstone about his neck?
I will pray for him.
I wonder how many are already enduring the flames of torment because of his teaching and position.

Or as one might point out Mike of N.Y., ..."Are experiences a valid source of truth?" (even if this isn't about this part of the Anglican Church, but note [ Looking at - THE ALPHA COURSE ] The Anglican Church is the home of a lot of heresy.)

But the Anglican Church isn't a valid Church --

"The faith of Anglicans is founded in the scriptures, the traditions of the apostolic church, the apostolic succession – "historic episcopate" and the early Church Fathers...." Anglicanism They have two out of three wrong--at least.

"he said: "Sometimes Christians have had to rethink the priorities of the Gospel in the light of experience."

This is pure unadulterated Liberalism whereby the person changes the Gospel because of human "experience." Thus the sinner "knows better" from circumstance and society how to apply the Word of God in times which differ from that of Biblical times.

The bottom line for the Liberal is that the Bible is only a guide and that it is not the Word of God. Thus in Liberal thinking, God did not write their bible. That way since mere mortals put the Bible together then modern mortals can just as assuredly change the interpretation to suit the times and society in which they live.

This attitude is one where the modern Christian is seen as "smarter" than the Biblical believers and can more correctly apply the "truth" to society today.

1John 5:19 And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.

2Cor 4:3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: 4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

2Cor 11:13 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. 14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.

Matt 24:35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.
37 But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,
39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

Romans 1

24 Therefore God gave them over in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, that their bodies might be dishonored among them.
25 For they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.
26 For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural,
27 and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error.
28 And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper,---NASB

One has to realize that the Anglican Church is an apostate Church, it was founded for the wrong reasons and had wrong values from its beginning. One sees here the leadership of the Anglican church supports this history, The Progress of Prelacy.

2 Tim 4:3 "For the time is coming when people will not ensure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions."
This man is represents the "teachers" Paul was referring to. Plus, slavery and apartheid were institutions, ironically enough, because people reinterpreted the Bible as this man suggests. Truly blind and demonic. Pray God will stop this advancement of falsehood by raising up true teachers and laymen unafraid of the spirit of the age or its adherents.

The comparison of changing attitudes on slavery and apartheid with changing attitudes on homosexuality is bogus. Neither the Bible nor reason or common sense support the idea that people with less melanin in their skin have a natural right to enslave people with more melanin in their. Neither does the Bible, reason, or common sense support the idea that it is sinful or wrong for people with different racial features to marry each other. Moses married a Cushite woman who was undoubtedly darker skinned than himself. By contrast, the Bible, reason and common sense all unite in declaring that it is contrary to God's design for human sexuality for two males or females to unite in a sexual union. There is no natural way for two males to join themselves to each other in a sexual union that does not involve a deviant use of bodily organs that frustrates God's design for human sexuality. God's purpose in creating sex is to bond the two halves of humanity together (the male and the female) in a way that naturally leads to the propagation and upbringing of a new generation of humanity within the context of a loving, covenantal union of a man and a wife, the ideal context for raising children. To try to 'erase' gender differences is wicked rebellion against God.

I hope I've got the word right, Christopher, but it seems like an exponential curve, where the slippery slope increases continually and faster each time, so that the effect of evil gets worse and worse faster and faster, until "every inclination of the thoughts of their hearts were only evil continually". We should not therefore be surprised at the antics of the ungodly, whose unregenerate natures plunge them into ever-increasing ungodliness. But we do need to be ready for it, and stand firm on the side of God, flying his flag, and not succumbing to the siren voices of the "world".

"Bishop Holtam, who was appointed to the role in 2011, said attitudes towards homosexuality have changed "considerably" over the last fifty years"

Because the world of the non-Christian has continued to remain in the dominion of sin - The Christians should ditch the Bible to keep the sin.

Holtam is a satanic Biblically ignorant Liberal belonging to the apostate Anglican abomination. He is definitely not a Christian.

The Anglican - therefore Liberal position - is that the Bible is not the Word of God. Satan has been working in mankind to put together religions which are unbiblical and non-Christian since the beginning. As he said to Eve in the Garden "Has God really said that?" (paraphrased). The Anglicans now follow Satan to hell and damnation.

Anglican religion is an embarrassment both to God and Christians and I pray God will remove both the Church of England and the apostate Church of Scotland from the nations.

The wrath of God is upon the western nations today and sin is its own punishment which is why the UK is an abominable Godless degenerate iniquitous domain.

"For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness" Rom 1.
