Crystal Cathedral Campus Celebrated as 'Gift From God' by New Catholic Owners
Thousands of parishioners from St. Callistus Catholic Church in Garden Grove, Calif., flocked to the Crystal Cathedral mega-campus this weekend to celebrate their first Mass at the facility now named The Christ Cathedral and commissioned more than 30 years ago by the Rev. Robert H. Schuller.
Possibly 3,000 worshippers joined the St. Callistus congregation on Saturday as they embraced their new sanctuary, which the Roman Catholic Diocese of Orange purchased last year for $57.5 million through Crystal Cathedral Ministries' bankruptcy proceedings.
A report from the Los Angeles Times indicates that an air of excitement and hope for the future of the facility hung heavy among those who attended the inaugural Mass....
The Mass is a lie, Jim?? Well, what if I just imagine that it's not a lie while attending? Would that clear me? If I imagine that the Mass is not a continual re-sacrifice of Christ, that the Priest doesn't command Christ out of Heaven; ordering Him into the wafer, that the wafer and wine don't literally turn Into Christ's flesh and blood in my stomach, that the wafer isn't worshipped as a result, praying for the dead is not okay, that praying to Mary is an abomination, that I'm told I cannot interpret the Bible on my own, and that I am not giving my money to hire attorneys for pedophile priests, etc, am I good? Am I cool with God if I just imagine the opposite of all that is true?
