Chicago: 7 Dead, 32 Wounded in Weekend Violence

Seven people were killed and at least 32 others were shot in violence that plagued Chicago over Father's Day weekend.

Six of the fatalities and 13 other shootings occurred overnight Saturday leading into Father's Day, including the fatal shooting of a 16-year-old boy.

On the Southwest Side, five people were shot, one fatally, in two shootings in the Little Village neighborhood.

Good for you, Mr B. My wife isn't happy with the Bruins being our home team and all, so I try to curtail my excitement...but she knows. 3-2 after last night, but back in Boston Monday. Great series.

I already commented on the headline, so go Blackhawks! What a game. Normally I'd be a Bruins fan, but I grew up in Chicago, and I am loyal. My wife's not happy. 2-2.

I would suggest that you look over this chart about murders committed by youth by country, Murders committed by youths (most recent) by country. Murder totals by country are rather meaningless statistics, for they are not related to population numbers.

But if you need be fond of your data interpretation, Romish Church connection you try to make is not there anyway. Consider Spain is ranked #34 with 94% RC, and the US is #3 with 24% RC. Russia is ranked #4, with 0.1% RC population.

Daniel B., things don't work out all that well in the Reddest of states either. 2 more hurt in Sunday night shootings -- Local News - Home for a total of 5 killed in Omaha over the weekend.

I would suggest that you look over this chart about murders committed by youth by country, Murders committed by youths (most recent) by country. The U.S. is ranked 3rd, way high on the list like most Catholic countries, oh Israel is #69 on the list. If you want to blame anything, blame the Romish Church, Should Roman Catholicism really be classified as a Christian religion? -- No. (PDF)

Tragic events impacting many. I pray for a day when there will be no more violence in our land. I pray too against unreasonable politicians, particularly in Chicago, who continue to push gun control to the peril of their citizenry.

Oh boy. The rest of the article runs down each person. I grew up in Chicago, and although you need to be on gaurd in any metropolitan area, it wasn't nearly as bad as it is now. I would never go into or through the far S/SW sides and I never ventured into the Loop after dark. If I was ever out after dark, it was only on MI Ave or right off MI. Still danger then, but out of control now...in certain areas. I could never imagine taking a life.
