'Happy Birthday to You' copyright suit filed in NY
A production company making a documentary about the song ‘‘Happy Birthday to You’’ is challenging the copyright to the famous jingle.
Good Morning To You Productions Corp., which is working on a film tentatively titled ‘‘Happy Birthday,’’ argues in a lawsuit filed Thursday that the song should be ‘‘dedicated to public use and in the public domain.’’ The company is seeking monetary damages and restitution of more than $5 million in licensing fees collected by Warner/Chappell Music Inc. from thousands of people and groups who've paid it licensing fees.
‘‘More than 120 years after the melody to which the simple lyrics of Happy Birthday to You is set was first published, defendant Warner/Chappell boldly, but wrongfully and unlawfully, insists that it owns the copyright to Happy Birthday to You,’’ the lawsuit states....
Ah, remember, Mike of N.Y., The Record of Republican Corruption. Considering the Republicans didn't have any big wins the last election, they most likely will get a pasting in the next one. If I remember correctly Dole might have been too liberal for me, and I think there is one thing in that article I didn't like, but still, I think the voting public is tired of hard left and right positions. With me, a politician better tell how he's going to make the government honest, before anything else, or he won't get my vote.
It will be interesting if God starts giving us what this country needs, instead of what it deserves.

Always a comforting thought being on the receiving end of politicians.
Jim Lincoln wrote: --- Most of the crooks have been Republicans (Yes, there have been Demos like Jesse Jackson Jr., as the latest example). They could keep many of their old ideas and win, if they adopted this idea.
1) Dole's ideas cost him a presidential election. That's what moderate ideas do. He's hardly the source to go to for advice.
2) If "moderate" establishment Repubs want to continue losing, they should continue trying to imitate Democrats. They may be more interested in becoming even better crooks, Jim. Maybe learning from the experts is the reason.
UPS, if you had looked that the video I suggested, you would see it was really nonpartisan. The suggestion made in it would affect all politicians equally. By the way, Disney was bipartisan in the Mickey Mouse caper, Disney In Washington: The Mouse That Roars. I have been too helpful to the Republican cause. Congress has the lowest rating by the American people than it ever has. I think most people know that the Republicans make up the majority of the House and nearly half the Senate. So, what happens when the voters finally wake up to what plutocrats are doing, e.g., The Koch brothers: all the influence money can buy.

Jim from Lincoln neglects to tell you that Mr. Abramoff also was a big supporter of democratic big wigs Harry Reid, Tom Daschle, and Richard Gebhardt as well as other democrats. WHY? Because although he may be a great brother and poster here on this website, he is NOT an independent.
Do you know why ‘Evil’ lobbyist Jack Abramoff talk US politics (short YouTube) belongs in thread? Because Warner Bros. will try to do what Disney did, extend a copyright, I think "Mickey Mouse," is now copyrighted in perpetuity thanks for some great lobbying efforts. I suppose a lot of Congressmen got Mickey-Mouse watches symbolic of their dedication to their jobs.
Anyway, I hope this company really goes after Warner Bros. gives them a good clip in the pocketbook! Go get'em!!!
