Baptists plan exodus from Boy Scouts
For Southern Baptist pastor Tim Reed, it was Scripture versus the Scouts.

“God’s word explicitly says homosexuality is a choice, a sin,” said Reed, pastor of First Baptist Church of Gravel Ridge in Jacksonville, Arkansas.

So when the Boy Scouts of America voted to lift its ban on openly gay youths on May 24, Reed said the church had no choice but to cut its charter with Troop 542.

That's too bad--don't they know the Masons teach salvation through good works, do not accept Christ as the only way to God, and have other non-Christian elements in their upper levels.

I wonder if they will ask all Masons to leave their church?

It is not about quitting the BSA but replaciing it with scouting that incorporates Biblical standards and teaching. Think of all the opportunities to impact young men with the gospel that have been lost because scouting had to tow the line on political correctness. New organizations are being formed. Pray for their success.

Ah, I wish that SA had put a link to a former thread, Mormon church OK with ending Boy Scouts' ban on gay youth. The Catholics and Mormons make a big plurality (I don't remember if it's the majority) of BSA troops in this country. So, their evil influence really can't be discounted.

I just read that the BSA has already marched in uniform in a gay pride parade in Salt Lake City. Clearly it is time to separate from the wickedness...inaction is validation.

Twas a tongue in cheek comment bro.
As you say, if we start withdrawing from everything we don't agree with then where do we stop? Should we stop shopping at stores that adopt unethical practises? Should we boycott those that have a pro-queer policy? etc.
If we stop being the salt of the earth, and hide our light under a bushel, do we then have any grounds to complain when things go from bad to worse?
Perhaps we should all become monks?
I knew it was! It would appear you and I agree on the hopelessness of this issue. There is no place to escape and still live on this earth. Hence my comment that I don't have an answer to this dilemma.

But, one day the Lord will return and then put everything right.

Anyway, thanks for the come back!

Well since our constitution has no litmus test; religious or moral and our government has no litmus tests and our military has no litmust tests and our public schools have no litmus tests, and of course the list could go on and on, then I would say if the Southern Baptists are going to disengage from the boy scouts, then where do they stop? Or perhaps they should become as I have become; a stranger and a pilgrim in a lost and fallen world. But, I support their decision and wish them Good luck. I have no answer for this dilemma.
