Update: 24 killed in Moore tornado, 9 children

MOORE, Okla. – The medical examiner’s office has confirmed 24 people were killed in the Moore tornado Monday.

Amy Ellis with the M.E.’s office said 9 of those killed are children.

She said seven children were found at Plaza Towers elementary school and two more were found elsewhere.

Ellis said that number could continue to rise.

The medical examiner’s office confirmed at least 233 people have been injured but 101 people were pulled from the damage overnight.

An even further update, New Oklahoma tornadoes 'kill nine'. Something for everyone to listen to, The Role of God in Natural Disasters.

Mr. Sutherland, what people do, is they donate to the Red Cross or Salvation Army--and I would suppose these organizations cut a wide swath among Protestants of various beliefs, so what's the problem when we discuss theology here? Oh, and I'm sure (well I know Jewish organizations helped out in the Okla. disaster) and I wouldn't be surprised if Catholic relief organizations did as well.

Ma Angelica founded the EWTN? Something like the Trinity Broadcasting Network for Catholics. Should Roman Catholicism really be classified as a Christian religion? -- No. (PDF)

What has happened to true Christian charity when so many of you take every news item on SermonAudio as a forum to ride your theological hobby horses and attack one another? What have all these comments have to do with the tornado in Moore, Oklahoma? Whatever happened to "weeping with those who weep" and showing some consideration for those who have been through this horrific event? To assume that everyone who dies in a disaster is wicked is like saying everyone who prospers materially is godly. This is NOT exercising righteous judgment! This is grievious!
Wiliam, with respect to you and your comment, I would say that because of "instant news" worldwide, and because that news is inevitably grievous, I must say that I for one am not willing to weep 24/7 because of all the evil that is going on in every second of every day, nor for catastrophes, which will increase as we approach the time of the end. I don't think Paul would agree with you, in being affected by every single thing that is going on in the world.

But if you want to, go ahead. Maybe you can cope with it.

As for the threads, yes I agree. Please ask SA to bring back the forums, where we used to spend hours debating the ology.

SteveR. Which women did Mother Angelica bring closer to the Lord? She was very famous and extremely influential, so it shouldn't be difficult to name someone. Any women she influenced would of by logic stayed in the RCC or gone into the RCC. Was it through the movement led by Mariology? They do call her the queen of the heavens.
Like I said, I dont know her or her fans. I just read the tweets at ETWN & book appreciations, nobody was talking about the Queen of heaven or idols...these are typical

This is a wonderful book, she is very witty and has a unique way of applying Bible to ordinary life. This is the first one I have read, but I will look for more. I think everyone would enjoy this book, even if you are not Catholic. ...more"

Grace (Charleston, SC) Mother Angelica is so wise, funny, and practical. This collection of short Bible lessons and meditations is perfect for reading or listening while exercising or driving. It makes boring tasks fun and spiritually enriching.

Extremely thought provoking. You will never read your bible the same way again

To have that perfection imputed to us is the most wonderful thing that can happen to anyone. Who can condemn us when God declares us righteous, even the righteousness of Christ credited to us.
Who shall lay anything to the charge of God's elect?
It is GOD WHO JUSTIFIES. Hallelujah!
The enemies of God hate such biblical teaching. This is why they always go on and on about "works". But they realise not that if they want works to count, they must keep the commandments perfectly, just as the Lord Jesus kept them perfectly. One sin condemns, but faith in the Saviour justifies. Praise God!

You put it so clear; once again a blessing to me. Our Lord will allow us to try and be justified by our works if "we desire", but He has told us we will lose. He will say "I never knew you". Not by baptism or communion or other man made sacraments and rules.
Isn't our Lord and Savior WONDERFUL!
