UN: Let Them Eat Bugs!

As part of its drive for global so-called “sustainability,” the United Nations has a new suggestion for the people of the world: Eat bugs instead of burgers. The controversial recommendations come from a new report by the UN Food and Agriculture Organization touting the supposed benefits of “edible insects” and the role they might play in future “food security” — assuming the bugs are farmed in a “sustainable” way, of course. The latest UN document also outlines propaganda campaigns to persuade Westerners and shows how expanding the international regulatory regime can help bugs-as-food proponents achieve their vision.

According to the controversial 200-page study, dubbed “Edible insects: Future prospects for food and feed security,” bugs are actually nutritious and environmentally friendly. The UN also claims it is “urgent” for people to start understanding that. “Insects as food and feed emerge as ...

ah, jpw, I hoped you looked at more than the title to, Full Show: The Toxic Politics of Science--"Bill explores why lead and other toxins continue to threaten America. Also, how money still secretly rules Washington.". It was an excellent program, both parts of it. I don't agree with everything that Bill decides to discuss, but it's always fine when he has something that I like.

Yes, yes, yogurt is fine, when the yogurt bacteria are the ones that do their thing to the milk. If something else beats them to it, you generally can figure that out. Eat too much yogurt and cheese, Your going to want to jump on your horse, grab sword and bow and attack the Great Wall of China! (Oh, The Hidden Dangers of Yogurt, (jpw you should like this one!)) This show and just the general thought that even if you grow your own food, and make your own yogurt, it still can have unhealthy stuff in it. Nothing beats exercise, with either unprocessed or processed foods.

ahhhh, am I hearing Jim of Lincoln admit that toxic heavy metals are not food? well, now we are making some progress!

what you don't know about yogurt, is that when it is lightly cooked and then colonized, it is safe to eat and has lots of probiotics, which you might need if you are on antibiotics a lot. Just trying to make sure you take good care of yourself. you hear of all those scares in the hospitals, well that's part of it, we aren't taking in the probiotics like those who came before us. (and dependent on those antibiotics, since killing off the probiotics in us results in a weak immune system) Jim, the modern adage of kill and burn everything off just isn't realistic! There is a reason people are going to wholesome farmers, you know.

Ah, jpw, of course that article on delicious locust dishes was from a Jewish source, but hey, from a liberal Southern Baptist probably in the mold of Jimmy Carter and Bad Billy Clinton, we have some interesting programs from Bill Moyer on, Full Show: The Toxic Politics of Science--"Bill explores why lead and other toxins continue to threaten America. Also, how money still secretly rules Washington.". This show should be repeated on my PBS station in an hour or so, looks like it might be interesting. Apparently a popular side note for the above show, How to Avoid Toxic Chemicals. Perhaps good advice in that little article, even if you're a Republican, Democrat or Independent. Oh, want to know what gunk is in your blood, there is this short golden-oldie as well, Moyers Moment (2001): Toxins in Our Blood.

jpw, I bet you didn't know you could like liberals so much! My eggs and meat are pasteurized, it's called cooking, and I like both items well-done!

there was a time when people knew how to handle foods properly...actually they still do..... what was that quote from CS Lewis about those who come "to help" who think they know better than you what is good for you, they often cause the most damage? ah, I'd love to get that quote, he said it a lot better.... anyway, nanny state you want, nanny state you are going to get Jim. We are tasting it morning, afternoon and night!

Ah, Charity, he ate them with honey, while not covering a multitude of sins does covers up a lot of nasty tastes!

jpw, of course raw milk is not the same as organic, Raw milk: Fit for human consumption?. jpw, you really need to to move to Nebraska, from what I've read, we must be one of the backward states in the nation. I'm surprised why doomsday preppers didn't buy up all the old Atlas missile silos?

But, hey, we have plenty of bugs to eat, to make any prepper happy! There has been some problems with raw cheese, Safety concerns threaten growing market for raw milk cheese.

Right on Chris!! and it's Biblical to be Lunching on locusts. Cicadas are suppose to be invading your part of the country, Chris (if I remember correctly) get the wife out there to collect to most luscious looking, and pop them into the fryer or barbeque. Remember get 'em while they're fresh.
