School district stands by decision to distribute Bibles

Hamilton County Schools is standing by its decision to distribute Bibles to students at a Chattanooga elementary school.

Students received permission slips to take home a copy of the Gideons New Testament Bible. Several parents were upset and contacted national organizations to try to keep the books out of the school.

The school board attorney says the district also has an all-or-nothing policy. That means if a principal allows the Boy Scouts to distribute literature, then so can the Gideons, Catholics, Muslims, or any other group. ...

The Church of Scotland declare they accept the Westminster too, and they've just turned queer???

You really need to identify with the witness of Christ - You know a real church.

Advice from Jim again on versions.
Don't forget that Jim prefers the version to which the heretics have contributed their interpretation and theology too. That is the NIV/NASB etc.

CV, John Y., is a compromiser, he even said he accepted, what is essentially the bottom line for being declared a Christian, and one is accursed if he doesn't accept, "Only Scripture," "Only Christ," "Only Grace," "Only Faith," and "To God Alone Be Glory". However, the Roman Catholics, Mormons and Jehovah Witnesses (PDF) organizations would say you're an anathema if you believe in those five solas.

All three have either have separate Bibles (I don't know any of the KJV only types that accept the 1611 KJV so one can say all three groups have their own Bibles) and extra-Biblical works that have the imprimatur of these particular organizations.

No, one can't assume anyone who have been to so much truth and for as long as John Y, who refuses to Come Out Of The Catholic Church (PDF) is a Christian, and should be refused that designation until he does.

"Romanists believe that faith is essential [to justification], just as Protestants believe that faith is
essential. They do not think it is sufficient for justification, but they do not believe that justification can come about apart from faith.... The Council of Trent stressed the fact that faith is necessary as the root of the good works which we do for justification. Roman Catholicism
teaches justification by works alone, but not by works that are alone.... The Reformation insisted that
justification is by faith alone, but not by faith that is alone. Justifying faith is working faith..... As we
know, Protestants in general, and the Reformed in particular, say the RCC position on justification is not the true doctrine. It is not the saving justification of Holy Scripture."

Well worth memorising, this little piece. It clearly shows the two opposing positions on salvation (justification).

There can be no doubt that the RCC is a false church with a false gospel, neither of which can save one sinner.

You may as well let me know what the Bible teaches on how to get saved to see if we are both 'innie' or one of us might be an 'outie'.

Anyway, I guess Steve holds to the American revision of the WCF, so has lost an important button. There are plenty who still hold to the original...

Antichrist the Historic Protestant view

What ya think Steve...the days when Protestants had fire in their belly to protest and the doctrines of grace burned into their very hearts by the Holy Spirit Himself?

The false divisions in Christianity known as denominations (Anglican, Methodist, Lutheran, Presbyterian, Baptist, Catholic, and Megachurch) are just a smokescreen. Most of their members could't coherently tell you how their website explains salvation if their life depended on it. Just like everybody has a belly button, each has got their own idea how to get saved.

When did you last tell one of your RC friends, including JohnY, to separate from the Antichrist system or have you never read your WCF on Antichrist?

Good point Obvious. These Bibles from what I understand is something they can take home and read, and hopefully something they don't have secular school teachers try to tear down, or for that matter Catholic ones, Roman Catholic Authority (PDF).

...sometimes I am asked how come Christians who claim to believe the Bible have so many different opinions regarding future things. The issue is how do we interpret the bible. The beginning point is very simple, God created us to communicate with one another and with him verbally. And so it's just foundational as we talk about interpreting the scripture that we follow certain basic principles of language and communication. And when we depart from that, we bring in confusion.

Its important to notice how they handle Scripture. Do they handle it as a Love Letter sent to them, or a battle manual & uniform they stole off a wounded soldier.
The word of God is the sword of the Spirit for our spiritual battle : something you find distasteful because it discovers your true identity you fox.

Jude was no witch (warlock).

Get your brain in gear, Lisa. Please.

You asked about the non-canonical book of Enoch, and I quoted a verse from him which the apostles accepted was a prophecy of Enoch given by God. Now you can argue till your face goes blue, but the text in Jude IS canonical, and he quoted directly from the Book of Enoch.

As for the rest of the Enoch ms. I have no idea about that because I have not read it. The fact that it was not accepted within the canon is good enough for me, and I would never promote it as scripture nor authoritative. Except for the prophecy which Jude quoted, of course!

BTW, why does Enoch get a capital E and God gets a small g?

Does that explain something?

I will agree with the church fathers- Enoch is not inspired of the holy spirit and it has no place in use for the Christian. God is able to preserve his word and Enoch not part of it. Sorry John, can't agree with you.

Jude 1:14-15 KJV
14 And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints,
15 To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.

Enoch 1:9
"And behold! He cometh with ten thousands of His holy ones To execute judgment upon all, And to destroy all the ungodly: And to convict all flesh Of all the works of their ungodliness which they have ungodly committed, And of all the hard things which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him."
