Baucus warns of 'huge train wreck' enacting ObamaCare provisions

Sen. Max Baucus (D-Mont.) said Wednesday he fears a "train wreck" as the Obama administration implements its signature healthcare law.

Baucus, the chairman of the chamber's powerful Finance Committee and a key architect of the healthcare reform law, said he fears people do not understand how the law will work.

"I just see a huge train wreck coming down," he told Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius at a Wednesday hearing. "You and I have discussed this many times, and I don't see any results yet." ...

Amen, brother US.

I was thinking of the neighbourly Samaritan.

Actually James 5:14,15 would suggest that would be a good idea. However, my point is that even those who receive "free" healthcare have that paid for in one way or another. For instance, in the UK they have extremely high gas prices, the purchase of gasoline helps to subsidize the cost of the care. So, they are still paying, just it goes to the government via taxes first and is then rationed to the healthcare providers. Same here in U.S. our taxes help fund the healthcare of others. It is not free, it does indeed cost.

well, I don't know.....the fellow I know who just got his mustard gas treatment has passed away. knew a couple others who had treatments that could be bought with change in the hand, natural ingredients and now live, with the body fully intact. but yes, mustard gas treatment is expensive and would require health insurance and lots of debt.

As US said there's no such thing as FREE healthcare. The nation's finances are up the river without a paddle and one of the major contributors is that Government spending is out of control. Do you have any idea how much we spend annually on health and welfare? Do you know what proportion of Government spending this represents? Check it out some time. It might just open your eyes to the myth of FREE healthcare!

Sadly the situation can only get worse because more people are living to older ages and the population of people in work by comparison is shrinking each year. Which means that the few in work are having to support an ever increasing elderly population. The Government's spending is already significantly above tax receipts and each month they are having to borrow more and more to make ends meet. Look at the level of our national debt and you'll see that we are not only bankrupt (we are where Japan was 20 years ago and they've still not recovered!) but very soon we will not be able to service the interest costs on that debt!

Free indeed!

In uk we have a free health care system. It's not perfect . But it's saved many many lives. I get a feeling that evangelical Christians in the us are against a health care system. I would think that for a modern caring first world country, the absence of a free health care system is a very bad thing for the USA. I'm not sure why people are against this ???

The surprising thing for me is, Baucus wasn't willing to see it when he voted for it.
