Ex-Schools Chief in Atlanta Is Indicted in Testing Scandal

During the decade she led the district of 52,000 children, many of them poor and African-American, Atlanta students often outperformed wealthier suburban districts on state tests.

Those test scores brought her fame — in 2009, the American Association of School Administrators named her superintendent of the year and Arne Duncan, the secretary of education, hosted her at the White House.

And fortune — she earned more than $500,000 in performance bonuses while superintendent.

On Friday, prosecutors essentially said it really was too good to be true. Dr. Hall and the 34 teachers, principals and administrators “conspired to either cheat, conceal cheating or retaliate against whistle-blowers in an effort to bolster C.R.C.T. scores for the benefit of financial rewards associated with high test scores,” the indictment said, referring to the state’s Criterion-Referenced Competency Test. ...

Cal Thomas had some interesting comments on the person on this article as well, where you'll find some interesting quotes in this article, e.g.,
Cal Thomas wrote:
Even the reliably liberal and pro-public school columnist Eugene Robinson is disturbed. Writing in The Washington Post, Robinson says, "It is time to acknowledge that the fashionable theory of school reform -- requiring that pay and job security for teachers, principals and administrators depend on their students' standardized test scores -- is at best a well-intentioned mistake, and at worst nothing but a racket."

So, Mike of N.Y., something you will like --as well as me.

Scandal because African-American poor scored better than they should?

"During the decade she led the district of 52,000 children, many of them poor and African-American, Atlanta students often outperformed wealthier suburban districts on state tests."

The portion that refers to income level and race is irrelevant, except to liberals and racists. Only a liberal paper like the NY Times would think wealth has to mean better grades. Such liberals fail to see their own racism when they assume African-Americans could never outperform folks of other skin shade.

Kids are being taught at a very young age to lie, cheat, and steal to get ahead. I do hope all the educators involved are made an example of how not to live and behave. What a shameful situation.

These couple of verses work for more than just politicians!

1 Corinthians 6
9 Or do you not know that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals,
10 nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, shall inherit the kingdom of God.---NASB

Ah, what an example she set, I hope there is some way to get that bonus money back, considering fraud has been alleged, one wonders if a little prison time couldn't be given as a bonus?
