Ex-Schools Chief in Atlanta Is Indicted in Testing Scandal
During the decade she led the district of 52,000 children, many of them poor and African-American, Atlanta students often outperformed wealthier suburban districts on state tests.
Those test scores brought her fame ‚ÄĒ in 2009, the American Association of School Administrators named her superintendent of the year and Arne Duncan, the secretary of education, hosted her at the White House.
And fortune ‚ÄĒ she earned more than $500,000 in performance bonuses while superintendent.
On Friday, prosecutors essentially said it really was too good to be true. Dr. Hall and the 34 teachers, principals and administrators ‚Äúconspired to either cheat, conceal cheating or retaliate against whistle-blowers in an effort to bolster C.R.C.T. scores for the benefit of financial rewards associated with high test scores,‚ÄĚ the indictment said, referring to the state‚Äôs Criterion-Referenced Competency Test....

Scandal because African-American poor scored better than they should?

The portion that refers to income level and race is irrelevant, except to liberals and racists. Only a liberal paper like the NY Times would think wealth has to mean better grades. Such liberals fail to see their own racism when they assume African-Americans could never outperform folks of other skin shade.

Ah, what an example she set, I hope there is some way to get that bonus money back, considering fraud has been alleged, one wonders if a little prison time couldn't be given as a bonus?
