Britain ponders 'three-person embryos' to combat genetic diseases
The government is considering whether to propose legal changes that would allow radical new treatments for families at risk of incurable genetic diseases that involve the creation of so-called "three-person embryos".
A national consultation released on Wednesday by the UK's fertility watchdog found public support for techniques that involve introducing DNA from a third person to embryos which could prevent mothers from passing on devastating diseases, such as muscular dystrophy, to their children.
If ministers and MPs give the procedures the green light, Britain would become the first country to offer treatments that lead to children being born with DNA from three people: their parents and a woman donor. The amount of DNA from the donor is tiny compared with the parents....
For all the good this will do, the real application for this will come when the inclusion of the third person makes two mommies or two daddies finally and legitimately the biological parents of a child
aborted fetal cell lines are commonly used in vaccines. hardly think we are in a position to cast a stone.
one can easily read on the history of many of these cell lines, the original child has a number put on them. in those days, moms would be told they were exposed to a certain infection and should abort the babies, then the baby would be aborted and then the cells used, because they have isolated a cell with the said infection inside it, back in the 60's. (which also makes me realize that abortions were going on before Roe v Wade? anyone have a memory of that? is it because they were researchers?)
I often wonder how long God will allow mankind to mess with His handiwork. Maybe I should be wondering how much longer it will be before something goes horribly wrong. These are the things that we hear about...I wonder what horrific experiments go on everyday around the world.
