Should you fear the police?

“People sleep peacefully in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf,” goes the famous quote attributed to George Orwell.

Personally, I honor the police the same way I honor our soldiers in the military, because their jobs are similar – both protect us from those who would commit evil acts and do us great harm.

But police today are being put in an almost impossible situation, as we’ll soon see.

With the Department of Homeland Security now purchasing billions of rounds of small-arms ammunition, including lots of hollow-point ammo, many Americans are asking: Who exactly is the enemy our government is preparing to fight on our own soil? (The government claims all that ammo is for mandatory quarterly training exercises for government agents, but who uses hollow-point on the practice range?) ...

Ah, you should show respect for your present King, but if you want to bad mouth Bad Billy Clinton, and Baby-faced Bush, be my guest.

I going to another thread to talk about Vermont, but from that article on the secessionists of Vermont, one can see that police need to fear the citizenry.

Christopher Ketcham wrote:

excerpt from, U.S. Out of Vermont! Doesn't that just make the Posse Comitatus (organization) go all gooey inside?

Or you should fear the ignoramuses who God lets them have their way in picking their goofy governments, apparently the lefties finally got tired of right wing nuts, and want to succeed from the Union! >U.S. Out of Vermont!. But to show that these folks had real discernment, they started to want out when Baby-Face Bush and his mob was in office!

As to your question, it's a good one, and brings up another. Why is waterboarding a terrorist frowned upon as torture, but launching a missile against Americans who are suspected of supporting terrorism a good thing? Making an actual terrorist uncomfortable: bad. Killing Americans without legal process: good?
Hey Mike, right now everything is great in my fair state, however we are awaiting another snow storm. I'm past ready for spring!
I understand why we should be against torture, to hopefully get our foes to treat our POW's the same way. However, is there anyone on here that thinks the Taliban and Muslims would do anything but mistreat prisoners. Regardless of how their POW's were being treated.
I'm against domestic drones and don't think they are a necessity except on our southern border. And to open fire on Americans, i have one question, whose choice would that be??? Not comfortable!!!

So, I just heard the awful followup. The teenagers have been caught; 14/17.
They walked up to a mother pushing her 1yr old baby in a stroller. The two boys demanded money. When the woman insisted that she didn't have any to give them, one of the boys pointed his gun at
the baby and shot her in the head.
Boy, oh boy!

By the way, there are other things besides stun guns, If you don't want to strap on a pistol, at least in this state, which has an open carry policy except:
Places in Nebraska where carrying is prohibited, with or without a permit:

Law enforcement facilities
Detention facilities
Courtrooms
Election polling places
Government meeting places
Financial institutions
Professional and collegiate athletic events
Schools and colleges
Churches
Emergency rooms
Political rallies and fundraisers
Establishments that sell alcohol for on-premises consumption
Private establishments — including places of employment — that disallow guns.

So, you act like, or least look like, Wyatt Earp, almost anywhere in Nebraska.

But, here are some legal protection you can check out, while it is addressed to ladies, the fellows might find the information handy also. Pepper Spray Vs Stun Gun Vs Mace - Which Is The Best Choice For Women's Personal Defense?.

Mr. Lincoln, the application of electrical shock has historically been considered torture. Though not surprising, it is still disappointing that you would advocate for an increase in the use of these devices.

We shouldn't fear them, though it's hard not to. They need love and witnessed to, as they are outside of the kingdom of God and not his children, but children of the devil who promote and protect evil while suppressing and persecuting the good.

I've tried hard to purchase a taser, but no luck. They are illegal within my surrounding states so I can't drive to buy one either. They also happen to be outlawed in states where I know people, thinking they could ship, but no luck there either.
I know it's a close contact weapon, but better than nothing.

I saw part of the show on the History Channel and what they saw were the 10 most important weapons of History, at #10 was M107 sniper rifle, I know the NRA will be working hard to see that every home is outfitted with one. at #9 was an interesting weapon, The Taser. Now I know a few British don't want to see their police force armed with more of these, but I would certainly like to see more American police have these available.

No, I don't know what the other 8 weapons were, as interesting as that might have been to know what they thought on that.
