Jack Schaap Sentenced to 12 Years in Prison for Teen Sex Case

Former First Baptist Church of Hammond, Ind., pastor Jack Schaap was sentenced to 12 years in prison on Wednesday for sex crimes with a female church member who was 16 years old at the time.

CBS Chicago reported that prosecutors had asked for 10 years for Schaap, but federal guidelines called for at least 168 months for such a crime. Schaap pleaded guilty to having a sexual relationship with a girl who was 16 when their relationship began last year. He was fired from his position at the church in August 2012.

"He told me to confide in him, to trust him, and he made me feel safe and comfortable around him as a man of God," the girl, who wasn't named, wrote in a letter to Judge Rudy Lozano. "[Schaap] preyed on that trust and my vulnerability." ...

http://tinyurl.com/glylhz7 (Hyles' daughter apologizes for 'nefarious actions' of church) from which,
'"The dynamics went beyond merely ingesting a sermon," Murphrey states in the letter. "It had crossed over into complete worship of your pastor.

"You looked and acted spellbound," she added in reference to church parishioners. "You sat there in awe, mesmerized. Not by scripture. Not by God and his word ... But by one man -- Jack Hyles, my own father."'

I see that I left off one bracket on the URL --besides some other things--which somewhat mess things up - - to put it mildly. it should be easier to get to the article now--I hope.

The Hyles Effect: free book : pdf download:Cloud ---free Books

I really didn't look at free Books commentary that closely or I would have remembered it better Actually, you are given a choice of formats to download it. Sorry it completely skipped my memory on later Schaap comments. So, take a look at it. Also, http://tinyurl.com/qfdols6 (Ignoring the Sin of First Baptist of Hammond) an excellent article by Pastor Cluud, well worth reading. This short article is too, http://www.nwitimes.com/news/local/lake/hammond/hyles-daughter-apologizes-for-nefarious-actions-of-church/article_bd70eeb5-6544-5ca8-8d94-ead03fb565ed.html> http://tinyurl.com/glylhz7 (Hyles' daughter apologizes for 'nefarious actions' of church)

The Hyles Effect: free book : pdf download:Cloud
This book documents the life and ministry of Jack Hyles, who pastored First Baptist Church of Hammond, Indiana, for 42 years, and Jack Schaap, who took over the pastorate of the church when his father-in-law died in 2001. But the book is not merely about two men. It is a warning about a cultic model of ministry that has spread very far. Hyles set the pattern for errors that are still rampant. And the book is a positive call to build biblical churches.
Just giving it a quick perusal it looks quite good.

I will also refer to the articles that was in my first message, and as I pointed out even a broader problem than that of Hyle's legacy that of adulterous pastors, for which I gave two references in the message before yours, and I would add, Wise Men Live Out God's Wisdom a very good sermon on adultery, and one can surmise from it, why does one want a fool for a pastor?

One should have suspected that Mr. Schaap was going to have problems, Jack Schaap -- The apple did not fall from the far from the Hyles' sad legacy!.

I would just say Christians should leave 1st Baptist (How is that a "Baptist" Church?, unless it gave up its ideas on Red Hot Preaching. There should be a few good churches around Hammond and Christian Fellowship Church being one of them.
