Church Won’t Do Weddings For Straight Couples Until Same-Sex 'Marriage' Is Legal

In a statement posted on the front page of their website, officials at the Green Street United Methodist Church said that they ask other churches to join in the movement to “refuse to sign any State marriage licenses until this right is granted to same- sex couples.”

The statement added, “Because the United Methodist Church prohibits its pastors from conducting same-sex weddings, excluding gay and lesbian couples from the holy sacrament of marriage, the Leadership Council has asked the pastor to refrain from conducting wedding ceremonies in our sanctuary for straight couples, until the denomination lifts its ban for same-sex couples.” ...

So who cares that green street church won't do . The most intolerant are those gays who want tolerance. All this gay crap is sickening. Just because you're proud of abusing yourselves don't mean I gotta like and tolerate it.

""the Green Street United Methodist Church said ........ until this right is granted to same- sex couples.”"

To the congregation at Green Street:-

1John 2:4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him."

John 8:43 Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word. 44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. 45 And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not."

Christ's definition of marriage.

Matt 19:4-6 "And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them ***MALE AND FEMALE,*** And said, For THIS CAUSE shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain SHALL BE ONE flesh? Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore GOD HATH JOINED together, let not man put asunder."

This so called 'church' is anti-Christ and its perversion of marriage is vile and degenerate. Whats more their teachings are sending people to hell by saying that evil is good.
Isaiah 5:20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
23 Which justify the wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him!
24 Therefore as the fire devoureth the stubble, and the flame consumeth the chaff, so their root shall be as rottenness, and their blossom shall go up as dust: because they have cast away the law of the LORD of hosts, and despised the word of the Holy One of Israel."

I looped back and read anne's comment. She seems to say it starts with the heart since the holy spirit has not quickened. I agree. The heart is the wellspring that flows to the mind. Certainly the national leaders of these denominations act in open defiance of God's word and will incur His full wrath. Looked at any of their websites lately? However there are alot of little old ladies in my town who faithfully show up every time the doors are open and profess great faith. Maybe those are the ones whose pipes from their heart to their heads are a bit clogged.

Yes, yes, thought exactly. I just don't get why they even bother, but Anne said something about their minds not being clear enough to understand the depth of their sin, which made sense.
The Bellmeister's post also helped me to realize that I probably can't expect one single answer because the end result may have beenlong time in coming and
have several answers which led up to wherw they arw at now.

Why are the blaming the Methodist Church? Blame God and the Bible...I am clearly assuming they have one. Fine Greenstreet do what you want...just dont pretend you are doing it as the body of are not.

Reading your list, Trueman could have just stopped with #1. All the rest flowed from a denial of the authority of Scripture. I honestly don't see how churches like this call themselves Christian churches. They may as well be unitarian or call themselves community clubs.

The Bible is so clear on homosexuality so I don't get how any church can, in good conscience, hop on board the gay is okay band wagon without any fear of Gods wrath.
How can they take these positions without any fear of repercussion? Do these denominations, Methodist, Episcopal, etc, believe God has changed? Does anyone know how they justify this?
The other thing that really gets me is all of the young people in the photo, most of whom, will be owning these heresies for life.
Trueman was clear yesterday. This is the recipe:
1. Let your preacher deny the resurrection for years.
2. Unhinge sex from Christian marriage.
3. Transform marriage into an inward-directed bond.
4. Disconnect children from Christian sex.
5. Focus on personal satisfaction -- sexual, emotional, financial.
6. Mix in no-fault divorce.
7. Divorce if out of love, remarry when in love.
8. Divorce your wife if she comes down with a nasty ailment like Alzheimer's; marry a cute replacement model (thanks to Pat Robertson).
9. With this much paganism filling a church, why wouldn't SSM be totally (Rob Bell-esque) cool?

Exactly, Cliff! Titus says it best. It all boils down to the same thing: sin, in all its awful wretchedness.

I believe we have the real problem revealed in 2Ti 4:3 "For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears."
God`s assessment.

Christopher, maybe this is the answer...?
1Peter 4:1-5. "Therefore, since Christ suffered in the flesh, equip yourselves also with the same resolve —because the one who suffered in the flesh has finished with sin— 2 in order to live the remaining time in the flesh, no longer for human desires, but for God’s will. 3 For there has already been enough time spent in doing what the pagans choose to do: carrying on in unrestrained behavior, evil desires, drunkenness, orgies, carousing, and lawless idolatry. 4 So they are surprised that you don’t plunge with them into the same flood of wild living—and they slander you. 5 They will give an account to the One who stands ready to judge the living and the dead." Since God has "given them over to shameful lusts" (Rom 1:26), I would doubt their minds are clear enough to perceive of the depth of their sin, wickedness, shame and evil. Unless the Holy Spirit quickens them, they've gone through a very wide gate and are heading down a very broad path. They mock Him, with realizing He cannot be mocked!

My simple question is always: Doesn't anyone read their Bibles anymore?
I am always perplexed, and I know I sound like a broken record, can church leaders/members who say they believe in God and His word, preach it every Sunday AM and PM, and Wed, or whatever, yet completely defy what He has to say over and over concerning this particular topic?

Apostate church...clear and simple. What about polygamy and marrying animals? Are they holding out for that as well? God's long-suffering for His world is astounding, may He grant us humility and repentance.

"""officials at the Green Street United Methodist Church said that they ask other churches to join in the movement to “refuse to sign any State marriage licenses until this right is granted to same- sex couples.”""

These are NOT Christians!!
May God destroy these Liberal abominations and their evil satanic ideas and send them all to hell where they belong.

GOD states: "Lev 18:22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: IT IS ABOMINATION."

GOD states: "Lev 20:13 If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed AN ABOMINATION: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them."

GOD states: "Romans 1:26 For this cause God gave them up unto VILE AFFECTIONS: for even their women did change the NATURAL USE into that which is AGAINST NATURE: 27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. 28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to A REPROBATE MIND"

Come Lord Jesus, come soon. Amen!

Luther threw the "holy sacrament of marriage" under the bus 500 years ago. Said it reeked of Catholocism because it didn't work with sola fide. Thus, he placed Christian marriage in the hands of the secular magistrate. So, Methodists don't have this holy sacrament. Never did. Baptists don't have it. Never did. Luther took that sacrament away many centuries ago. The holy bond of matrimony has never been an option for the Protestant.

Why am I not surprised by this? Oh wait it's because churches are 501 and really belong to the government therefore They have to be correct. Oh and maybe it's because modern day churches reek of compromise. Ridiculous. Repent!
