Luis Palau: New Pope Francis a Friend of Evangelicals
Evangelist Luis Palau, who knows and has prayed together with Pope Francis on several occasions, called the new leader of the world's 1.2 billion Catholics a friend of evangelicals who is respectful of all sides of Christianity.
"I exploded," Palau told oregonlive.com, of his reaction after his son, Kevin Palau, president of the Luis Palau Association, shared the news that Jorge Mario Bergoglio, archbishop of Buenos Aires, was elected pope this week. "I just couldn't believe it. In the last election, he was in the running but he told me he felt led by God to remove himself from the race. I said, 'Maybe next time,' and he said, 'I'll be too old.'"
The fiery preacher who some have called the "Latin Billy Graham," said whenever they prayed together, Bergoglio asked him to "lay your hands on me and pray for me, that God will keep me as servant." The new pope is respectful of all sides of...
My pastor does an excellent job, of declaring and explaining the Good News. Unlike me, he will more thoughtfully go into the problems of the likes of Luis Palau. This means he won't use the sticky note process of looking at a recent news story and tack something onto a sermon, but will look at the various facets of what is attacking the Gospel message and do an in-depth response to that. On Saint Patrick's day (that great Irish Protestant Gil looked at the new Pope and the Romish Church in his sermon, Jesus Christ, Our One & Only High Priest and then on Palm Sunday he concluded those insights on the Romish Church with also a look at some of Mr. Palau's comments, who is known as the Billy Graham... of Latin America. with this sermon, Requirements of Every High Priest.
So, by this Resurrection Sunday, I would hope that the Catholics on this board will give up their sacerdotal church and go to Bible believing Protestant one.
These ecumenicalist are dangerous. Just another Antinomianion pelagion. I would hate to be behind him in judgement day.... With all the false alter calls. Matt7:22.
He sees the RCC and Pope becoming more like him, Evangelical.

Is that a collective gasp of awe I hear, or did I not sufficently casually drop into my comment that I know the new pope PERSONALLY? And the statement I made was SOOO relevant and neccesary, wasn't it?! You all just NEEDED to know that!

The pope is not Peter's successor. The primacy of Rome was never accepted in the first millenium. They will not find such a way.

You'd be plain wrong then, as you are on most things.
In my early Christian walk I read Palau, Urquhart, Graham, Yongi Cho, Nee etc. All shallow, sounding brass, tinking cymbals. Sadly, this was staple diet at the church I was at.

You have the gall to quote the words of the Belgic confession (whose author was murdered by Catholics for his Calvinistic beliefs) against me?
Either there is something seriously amiss in your head or you are an RCC agitator, a Roman Catholic apologist pretending to be an orthodox Protestant believer.
And for the record Baptists have never persecuted anyone. We uphold freedom of speech and conscience. But that does not mean we countenance evil doctrine spread by devils who look to damn as many souls as possible. We know you from the flag you fly and we know your father the devil.

There is nothing emasculated in my Gospel, your slide into perdition for instance:
From the Belgic Confession: Last Judgment
"Therefore, with good reason the thought of this judgment is horrible and dreadful to wicked and evil people. But it is very pleasant and a great comfort to the righteous and elect, since their total redemption will then be accomplished. They will then receive the fruits of their labor and of the trouble they have suffered; their innocence will be openly recognized by all; and they will see the terrible vengeance that God will bring on the evil ones who tyrannized, oppressed, and tormented them in this world.
The evil ones will be convicted by the witness of their own consciences, and shall be made immortal-- but only to be tormented in the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels.^83"
* What those Catholics were spritually 500 yrs ago(and some today), is how you behave today(only impotent). You are the flip side of the same coin and will share their fate if you dont repent

Exercising doctrinal judgement is part of the Christian's calling. You must surely hate the apostle Paul for his contribution to the NT. If you read him with even the slightest degree of care you might notice that he often writes as a controversialist and has some pretty tough things to say to those who called themselves his brethren, who were nothing of the sort!
Doctrinal error can be fatal to the soul. You're so blind that you cannot see this, which is why you have one foot firmly in the RCC camp. You Sir are an errorist of the worst kind, because you will gladly suffer folk to go to hell all in the name of some effeminate love. Your emasculated version of the gospel is NOT the gospel of Christ.

From a secular point of view, I feel the election of a Jesuit means that the warming of relations between Church bodies will slow down if not stop altogether.
