Blockbuster ratings for ‘The Bible’ confound Hollywood
Sure, it’s easy to criticize Hollywood, but try to remember that the entertainment industry today is an intellectually demanding environment, fraught with cognitively challenging, even intractable, questions, like, to take one recent example: How can the cable mini-series “The Bible” be such a ratings hit when there is no audience for overtly religious entertainment programming?

According to the latest Nielsens, released Tuesday, Sunday night’s telecast of “The Bible,” produced by husband-and-wife team Mark Burnett and Roma Downey for basic cable’s History channel, managed to attract more viewers than anything on broadcast network NBC … during the entire week.

Even bigger was part one the week before, which amassed an audience of 13.1 million viewers, cable’s largest of the year. That series premiere topped the ratings for both of the week’s episodes of “American Idol.” (Not the first time the ...

If Jesus were on your sofa he'd yank your cord out of the wall and smack your flatscreens with a bat. These are graven images and graven sounds. True Christians never had TVs and SmartPhones. Consult your Bible.

I haven't caught a show but watched some clips and interviews last night. I don't recall the actor's name who plays Jesus, but they were all referring to him as "the sexy Jesus". I didn't like that, and when the actir was asked about the title, he responded, "I would rather reach just one person over being called the sexy Jesus". He didn't bother to condemn the title.

Oh Please. This is isn't brain science. The reason it is getting high ratings is because all the lukewarm, false professing 'christians' who neither know the Lord or His word, are lapping this stupid series made by the producer of 'Survivor' and 'The Voice', up. Helped along of course, by targeted marketing to all the dumb sheeples in 'American business churchianity land' that attend all the apostate businesses masquerading as 'churches', every Sunday.

Can guarantee it aint the unbelievers watching it...only the sadly deceived false believer who is all excited the 'bible' is on TV!!!! THE REAL BIBLE IS NOT BEING PRESENTED. Just ask Rick Warren, Joel Osteen or Jim Wallis who were among some of the 'advisors' to this blasphemous series.

I've been watching the series to see how historically accurate it is. In the third installment tonight, Daniel was tossed into the lion's den by order of Cyrus.

Major blunder.

Darius, the son of Ahasuerus, of the seed of the Medes set his seal on an order of no petition to any god save him for 30 days which Daniel defied landing him in the lion's den. (Daniel 6)

You'd think the RCC, which obviously endorsed this series, would know better. And 1.1 billion people trust this evil institution with their eternal fate without question.

There was probably a lot more blood and killing in this one than any shows on network television. If one wants to get a false view of Christianity, The History Channel is a "good" place for that. The History Channel can have some good history programs --not about religion-- so I'm not saying to boycott it except shun it when it has its version of religious programming.
Couldn`t agree more.
Going on their past proformance I wouldn`t watch the History Channel on anything regarding Christianity.
