South Dakota Governor Signs Extended Abortion Wait Period Law
South Dakota Republican Gov. Dennis Daugaard on Friday signed into law a measure that excludes weekends and holidays from the state's 72-hour waiting period for abortions, potentially making the wait the longest in the nation.
The Republican-controlled state Senate last week approved the measure, passed earlier in February by the Republican-controlled state House, sending it to Daugaard.
The South Dakota bill signing was the latest legislative or court action on abortion laws this week.
Arkansas lawmakers earlier this week voted to ban most abortions after 12 weeks of pregnancy effective later in 2013 if the law survives a planned court challenge. In February, they imposed an immediate ban on most abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy....
They say that some of the Republican legislatures are passing these various laws to see which stick. It will be interesting to see if any do. Mississippi is another one that is pushing the issue.
Now if this fellow signed an executive decree banning all abortions; that would be a wonderful step. He could argue he is simply using his office to protect life. He would be overturned by the courts; kicked out of office and humiliated, etc. But, just think how many lives that would save while this process was taking place.
But, he also took an oath, using God's name, to support and uphold his state laws and our national laws; one of which is the right to murder little babies.
Now that is a dilemma. Does he stand by his oath unto the Lord to support and uphold, or does he do something to stop this killing.
Sorry, just musing. My facts may even be wrong and if so, I welcome correction.
I always find it very difficult to believe that abortion is even legal...period. Then, I consider how abortion, state by state is legal from up tk 12wks, and even up to 24wks. They say 24wks is when the baby begins to feel pain. Bull. Barbarians.
