Hugo Chavez, passionate but polarizing Venezuelan president, dead at 58

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, who went from a young conspiratorial soldier who dreamed of revolution to the fiery anti-U.S. leader of one of the world’s great oil powers, died March 5 in Caracas of complications from an unspecified cancer in his pelvic area.

He was 58 and had been president since 1999, longer than any other democratically elected leader in the Americas. Vice President Nicolas Maduro announced the death.

Mr. Chavez first revealed in a brief, dramatic television address in June 2011 that he had undergone two surgical procedures in Cuba. He would go under the knife two more times, greatly weakening the once robust leader. Mr. Chavez had been elected in October 2012 to a third six-year term. But he missed his swearing-in ceremony on Jan. 10 while lying gravely ill in a Havana hospital after undergoing what his aides had called a complex operation a month before. ...

Topol, have you read "Confessions of an economic hit man" by John Perkins? Chavez claimed he was being killed off by the US, and I'm inclined to give that accusation serious consideration. Think Omar Torillos...

What is also creepy is that Aaron Russo predicted, based on a conversation with a Rockefeller, that we would go into Venezuela and take out Chavez. Go see the first Zeitgeist. Russo died in 2007.

Mr. Cisneros,
I've concluded that not only are yoj not a born again Christian, but you are a very troubled man. I know you have run for city councils, but I have to wonder how you even function within a public setting.
I used to know someone like you...very intelligent but very, very deceived. The thing that really troubles me is that you, in daily life, are most likely actively deceiving the ignorant and weak.
I know you believe it to be the other way around, but I believe that Satan is alive and well, and very, very active in your life.

Methinks you must be spiritually 'dead' as only a lifeless corpse could know so little about Christian behaviour. You have overdosed this time with your venomous tripe and slanderous attacks against the good brethren here.

Is that the siren outside that you can hear- as men in white coats come to your rescue, or is it your imaginary friends in an alien ship that you have previously attempted to post about.

You need a hobby, Tony, to give you something better to do

Oh, there is proof about disenfranchised voters? People being turn turned away due to race or gender? Nope not there. You can vote absentee ballot and never leave your home. We even have people voting multiple times Minorities voted in record numbers the last two elections. The only disenfranchise voters here are Republicans who in the primary, for instance, in Nevada, no matter which candidate was chosen Harry Reid received the vote. Or in the state of Washington where 2x a fraudulent recount put the democrat in office. In some areas Barak Obama got the vote no matter what. Maybe that is to whom you were referring. Also, if Mike vented hatred in any of his posts, he needs to stop using the invisible characters, they are not showing up.

There is no shortage of Americans that would have social reform just like in Venezuela. That's why you vent your hatred of them so often.

Garbage. Obama does not even have the respect to attend the funeral of the most important leader in the Americas. Yet three US Presidents attended the 2005 funeral of the Pope.

You still need your Voting Rights Act and Obama is unwilling or unable to end the systematic disenfranchisement of millions of Americans.

Lecture yourselves.

He was serving an elected fixed term of office. Your allegations are propaganda. It is the USA that disenfranchises the poor and the downtrodden.

"Parties, candidates and other organizations put up about $7 billion in the 2012 presidential election in the US. It was the first presidential vote following the Supreme Court ruling that granted corporations freedom of political speech.
And like every American presidential election before it, it set the record for most expensive campaign in history. Political parties – mostly, but not only, the Democrats and Republicans – ended up spending $2 billion, while political committees accounted for $2.1 billion of the spending. Candidate campaigns spent about $3.2 billion.
Federal Election Commission (FEC) chairwoman Ellen Weintraub revealed the number at an agency meeting Thursday."

Ah, Leaders from Cuba to Iran attend Chavez's funeral. A short excerpt from which, 'The late president's body is to be embalmed and shown "for eternity" at a military museum - similar to how communist leaders Lenin, Stalin and Mao were treated after their deaths.'

Of course the Americans have an article that says that. The tears of the Venezuelan people speak for themselves.
