N. Korea's 'hatred of Christians' puts 70,000 believers in prison
Persecution of Christians in North Korea shows no sign of abating under the country's new leader, Kim Jong-Un, according to a report by the worldwide ministry Open Doors.
"The fanatical regime, which rules the destitute country of 24 million people with a proverbial iron fist, has a special hatred for Christians," Jerry Dykstra of the California-based Open Doors USA noted. "North Korea is in a league of its own when it comes to persecution of Christians."
Dykstra's and other reports parallel incidents in North Korea chronicled in the U.S. State Department's religious freedom assessments....
Lord please strengthen our persecuted brothers and sisters in Christ who live in intolerant countries , may we follow their examples of standing up for Jesus. That same persecution is gonna start here too , God give us the grace and strength to stand
Thanks for the reminder, Dorcas. I do pray for the persecuted, but not nearly often enough. We are so blind to what goes on throughout the rest of the world because of our freedom and the fact that we have always lived so comfortably.
from wiki According to Religious Intelligence UK the situation of religion in North Korea is the following:
Irreligion: 15,460,000 (64.3% of population, the vast majority of which are adherents of the Juche philosophy) Korean Shamanism: 3,846,000 adherents (16% of population) Cheondoism: 3,245,000 adherents (13.5% of population) Buddhism: 1,082,000 adherents (4.5% of population) Christianity: 406,000 adherents (1.7% of population)
I wonder if they are imprisoning shamans and buddhists also.
Brothers and Sisters in Christ, Please remember our persecuted brethren at the throne of grace and mercy,in your daily prayer time. Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 5:10. Thank you LORD JESUS for your great mercy to this country and people for the freedoms we have and enjoy when our dear brethren do not have it so.
