Father of U.S. slavery was a black man

February has been officially designated, recognized by many and even celebrated by some as Black History Month or National African-American History Month. While it is acknowledged in some other countries (most notably Canada and the U.K.), it is primarily devoted to the achievements of African-Americans in the U.S. It will, henceforth, include the historical fact that Barack Hussein Obama became the first African-American president of the United States.

However, early American history also reveals another dramatic first involving a black American. ...

Something is wrong with the Christian who does not perceive that amongst "God fearing believers" we should not fully expect an attack by Satan and sin.

Or do you think everybody who calls themself "Christian" - is always a Christian, and that Christians are perfect?

Are you aware of Satan and sin as an enemy and an evil force which attacks you? Or doesn't Satan bother with you.

A Black woman entered this site in search of Spiritual nourishment, and was blindsided by self described Christians who think she & her people should share responsibility for the pre Civil war slave trade. And you want to wash your hands of it because of what you think her reaction should have been?

Lest we forget? What was the evidence used by the self styled Christians against her? An article full of blatant inaccuracies

May I assume that you believe hyper-sensitivity is of God and instead of praying to God to overcome it He should be thanked for it?

Goes hand in hand with your belief that there are millions of born again Christians who found light and salvation in the RCC.

As I have pointed out, we fought a war which was basically over slavery of Whites, Jefferson Versus the Muslim Pirates.

Romans 1:1 Paul, a bond-servant of Christ Jesus, called as an apostle, set apart for the gospel of God,---NASB

Going to Strong's Greek for "Servant"

01401:
1401 doulos doo'-los from 1210; a slave (literal or figurative, involuntary or voluntary; frequently, therefore in a qualified sense of subjection or subserviency):--bond(-man), servant. see GREEK for 1210

John MacArthur wrote:
Freedom or slavery—what’s the distinguishing mark of Christianity? In a generation fixated on freedom, fulfillment, and autonomy, the vote has been cast early and often for freedom. But the Bible is abundantly clear—slavery is the heart of what it means to be a true Christian. It’s time to reassert this unpopular notion: true Christians are slaves of Christ.
1st paragraph of, The Distinguishing Mark of Christianity. This bears repeating if someone has already brought up this John MacArthur commentary.

Yes Rufus, all believers are slaves of our Lord; hence we are all brothers and sisters in Christ, with no distinction whatsoever.

You and I are in agreement on this subject; thanks for sharing.

If you are not a bond-servant or slave of our Lord, then you aren't serving Him according to scripture.
If you are not serving Him as a slave, according to scripture, then you are not following Him.
If you are not following Him, then you are not one of His disciples.
If you are not His disciple, then you are not one of His sheep.
If you are not one of His sheep, then He is not your Shepherd.
If He is not your Shepherd, then ....
Now, all of us probably have differences of opinion regarding the history of slavery in cultures, but all of us probably agree with being bond-servants or slaves of our Lord?

"Her people"? Why is "her people" based on pigment of skin / ancestory? Is this how we should all assess our skin color? Rufus,
The conflict and seperation by skin color started with Chris on the very 1st comment on this thread. Its the same person you have been defending, but let me remind you what he said

He said

"I have always been aware of this but the
blacks have always glossed over it, never acknowledging this fact. They used to sell themselves but this fact never arises in the hate speech."

Perhaps you need to direct that concern of yours to him? Its clear to me why she was offended & found herself answering for 'hate speech' of these 'blacks' that dont 'acknowledge' his racist fantasy.

well, what of modern globalism on the back of the indegenous man and his land?

that is today, now...

do we not take in their lackeyes into our churches and praise their "new ideas"? look at the headlines! warren and oprah are proud of their african endeavors!

are not most churches today guilty of being stirred into hating this group or another?

I hear it all the time here... making excuses for the suffering pushed on a group becuause others of that group did evil.

I hear all kinds of vain philosophies.

Wasn't the african slave trade based on international commodities?

I'm not surprised to hear that people have experienced racism in churches, I have experienced all kinds of crazy things.. one who may be racist that I knew was a mason and tried to run out a pastor with false charges, just because he wanted to, I suppose.

throw all the riff raff to the side, and among the real, suffering church of Christ, I have known unity that transcended cultural differences. Praise God. In Christ, everything else goes dim.

as for the churches today, I will have respect for them when they begin to deal with our living realities today... I see very little of this. makes me think most of our infighting was designed to keep us weak.

May the church be purified.

Well now Steve, how many spiritually nourishing sermons do you think you could find here at SA? Three hundred thousand?

So a black woman comes on here looking for spiritual nourishment, and goes straightway to the forum and lays into people including myself, calling us racists among other things.

Go figure!!

I feel sorry for Chris. He ran into a ticking time bomb and has stumbled in His walk with Christ. This shouldn't happen in a community of God fearing believers. Something is wrong and it's not that the topic is taboo. Like-minded Christians should be able to discuss anything to the edification of the saints and the glory of God.

Something is wrong when a community of God fearing believers start talking like racists and ignore people who have been/are being affected by it.

The crimes of the slave traders were OK because God took Israel into Egypt for 400 years. Ditto the Holocaust.

What kind of perverted logic makes you people think like this and think it is all OK?

Give yourselves a pat on the back for your spiritual superiority and slam every person who calls into question your logic for being hyper sensitive, the new big sin in this forum!

"Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and ***weep with them that weep***. Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits."

You are all very good at being condescending, but is it the sort commanded?

There are no mitigating circumstances for sin. The woman may not appeal to her being the weaker vessel.

Now you are trying to tell me that YOU are contending for the gospel, and I have blemished it.
