Britain's credit rating downgraded from AAA to Aa1

Moodyâ€™s announced on Friday night that it had cut the Governmentâ€™s bond rating one notch from â€˜Aaaâ€™ â€“ the highest possible level â€“ to â€˜Aa1â€™.

The move is a significant setback for Chancellor George Osborne, who has faced criticism that his strategy for dealing with UKâ€™s huge debt burden is failing to deliver.

Moodyâ€™s pointed to â€œcontinuing weakness in the UKâ€™s medium-term growth outlook, with a period of sluggish growth which [it] now expects will extend into the second half of the decadeâ€.

I should have added, that is one of the principal reasons why David Camoron (sic) looks for any issue to distract from the economy.

Hence Al Quaeda, Global warming, Europe, Gay marriage, Olympics etc

If they understood how much 'off balance sheet' debt the UK government has they would have given it a credit rating worse than Greece!! The UK economy is up the proverbial creek without a paddle!
