Obama, Cheney, Bush and Powell in New Pro-Gay Marriage Ad

A new advertisement launched by the Respect for Marriage Coalition on Wednesday shows U.S. President Barack Obama, former first lady Laura Bush, former vice president Dick Cheney, and former secretary of state Colin Powell, all speaking out on their support for same-sex marriage in the U.S.

For example, Cheney and Obama have previously had numerous disagreements regarding national security, yet they agree on the topic of same-sex marriage.

The advertisement features previous clips of Cheney, Obama, Bush, and Powell discussing their support for same-sex marriage. ...

Romans 9:6-14 KJV
6 Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect. For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel:
7 Neither, because they are the seed of Abraham, are they all children: but, In Isaac shall thy seed be called.
8 That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed.
9 For this is the word of promise, At this time will I come, and Sara shall have a son.
10 And not only this; but when Rebecca also had conceived by one, even by our father Isaac;
11 (For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth)
12 It was said unto her, The elder shall serve the younger.
13 As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated.
14 What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid.

Translate that into NT terms, and you have children of promise, as it say in Galatians 4:28.

Sure, it is sound biblical doctrine.

On "Reprobation."

"John Bunyan, author of "The Pilgrim’s Progress," wrote a whole volume on "Reprobation". From it we make one brief extract:—"Reprobation is before the person cometh into the world, or hath done good or evil. This is evidenced by Romans 9:11. Here you find twain in their mother’s womb, and both receiving their destiny, not only before they had done good or evil, but before they were in a capacity to do it, they being yet unborn—their destiny, I say, the one unto, the other not unto the blessing of eternal life; the one elect, the other reprobate; the one chosen, the other refused". In his "Sighs from Hell", John Bunyan also wrote: "They that do continue to reject and slight the Word of God are such, for the most part, as are ordained to be damned". (A.W.Pink)

"Were it necessary we are prepared to give quotations from the writings of Wycliffe, Huss, Ridley, Hooper, Cranmer, Ussher, John Trapp, Thomas Goodwin, Thomas Manton (Chaplain to Cromwell), John Owen, Witsius, John Gill (predecessor of Spurgeon), and a host of others. We mention this simply to show that many of the most eminent saints in bye-gone days, the men most widely used of God, held and taught this doctrine which is so bitterly hated in these last days..." (A.W.Pink)

Yes, John U.K., God Hates Sin, Hates Sinners. It should be pointed out that many Baptists are 4-point Calvinists, Amyraldism (Four point Calvinism). Just saying Christ only died for those predestined for salvation, isn't in the Bible and was a conclusion made Calvin, I suppose when looking at election.

Unfortunately, not all Baptists are Calvinists, in fact many are Arminian, Estep on Calvinism, so many have thought out Calvinism & Arminanism Contrasted.

CHS, the "Baptist's theological father"? What world do you live in. No, don't tell me. Let me guess

I don't think you will ever find anything in Spurgeon's writings which even mildly approaches double-predestination. If I recall correctly, he poured opprobrium on the hypers, who were some of his harshest critics.

As for your advice, (I am sure you are referring to Hyper-calvinists like you!) thanks, but no thanks. Been there got the T-shirt and still got the bad taste in my mouth Besides, if you are an advert for it ................. fill in the blanks yourself.

I understand the whole parable; Lurker.

The term "world" does not mean everybody.
EG
"Jn 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son,"
# Whom GOD loves are the Elect.
Ergo: "World" equals Elect.

Matt 13:38 The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom"
# "children of the kingdom" are the Elect whom God loves and draws during there lifetime to Christ and salvation.

"Tares" Rom 9:21 - Two types created by God for His purpose. One "good seed" - One "Tares"

The Scripture says, Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon ALL men, for that ALL have sinned: (Romans 5:12)Let us remember just as Levi paid tithes being in the loins of Abraham, we all sinned (see above verse) when Adam sinned. Thus the ENTIRE HUMAN RACE was doomed on the broad road to destruction. God, in His mercy, chose His elect from out of the doomed. (we were without Christ and had no hope, without God, but now we have been made nigh by the blood of Christ- Ephesians 2) You are getting in the doctrines of lapsarianism when you start to decide the order and when all this was done. The main thing is none of us having a copy of the book of life. We have an obligation therefore to preach the gospel to every creature and to make our own calling and election sure. As the good Dr. indicated God's ways are not our ways and His understanding is far above our human comprehension. Let us praise Him that we can be recipients of His mercy because our Lord was the recipient of His wrath on our behalf.

"Good seed" = Elect of God.
As we observe in the parable they are planted in a diverse world whereupon they will grow in Grace as the Elect of God and serve Him only. Note the reference to "seed" - thus planting which "BEGINS" the process of growing and flowering.
NO human free will necessary.
"Tares" = Satan's wee reprobates.
We also note that Jesus teaches that Satan's tares planted with Satan's agenda, and in Satan's power the dominion of sin. Who as the Lord points out .....
"Rom 9:22 What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction:"
God's Sovereignty and election/reprobation confirmed.
John 3:16 Confirmed that ONLY the elect are loved.
Who needs to love Satan's tares?
And there we have it friends! The indisputable proof of Calvinism in John 3.16! God's code written in parables so that only Presbys can understand it.

We have to wonder why all other Christians are so blind. Maybe we're also all tares?

Diversity, tell me did you spot in the parable indwelling by the Holy Spirit of sinners before belief?

Correct!

Brother Mike, so long as we go no deeper and try to analyse why some believed and some did not believe, we shall walk without schism the narrow road to life together, and enjoy one another's company. That would be independent, nondenominationalistic, antidispensationalistic, separatistic nonconformity.
