Washington Post: On homosexuality, many Christians get the Bible wrong
Homosexuality is one of the most divisive issues within churches and across our country today. The issue has become, for some, a litmus test on fidelity to God and the scriptures. The divide is not just between the progressives and conservatives. It is also a generational divide, with younger Christians generally seeing this issue differently than older Christians.
Southern preachers and slave owners believed the many references in the Bible permitting and regulating slavery (well over 100 verses), in both the Old and the New Testaments, were clear evidence that the institution was a part of God’s social and moral order. Abolitionist preachers argued in their sermons that the verses related to slavery in the Bible were a reflection of the cultural context and times in which the Bible was written and did not reflect God’s endorsement of slavery. The Bible is not a record of the spiritual evolution of man, but rather the repository of truth for all time. It's condemnation of perverse and unnatural sexual practices is not the opinion of unenlightened men, but the word of God. Any preacher that says otherwise is justifying the wicked. Does the Bible condemn bond-servitude? No! Does it recognize the property of a master in his servant? Absolutely! Just read the tenth commandment: "Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's." Exodus 20:17. Let God be true and every man a liar.
Definitely a sheep and goats issue. The moment you compromise you are a goat. There's a harlot Church and a true Church. The harlot Church is manifesting itself right now. You have have pleasure in righteousness, they have pleasure in unrighteousness. We'll see who wins.
Forgive me if any of have stated this, but since when had the Washington Post become theologians? I just read Leviticus this past weekend and God's word "gets it right" on homosexuality, murder, bestiality, invest, and a multitude of other matters that God considers depraved, abominations, and perverse. The slave owners were also wrong, because man-stealing is a capital offense in the Scriptures. But, this childish logic, or illogic, on part of the Post is embarrassing.
There is really nothing divisive about God's Word,"the soul that sins it shall die." Thats it folks. Men of perverse minds twisting the scripture to their own destruction! Stop trying to witness to these heretics. After the first and second admonition, reject them.
Here is how to expose their hypocrisy. I would like to ask this fellow which one of the below sins is something the church has gotten wrong all these years, besides the one he notes. The answer is obvious; there is no movement to legitimize any except homosexuality. The homosexual movement has won the hearts and minds of the world, but I pray Christ’s true church will continue to renounce it until our Lord returns. And of course, to compare homosexuality or feminism to civil rights and slavery is really silly.

Just another pathetically weak argument of concocted, presumed evidence that they so desperately search for to support their lifestyles. The Bible is crystal clear concerning their lifestyles, yet they continue to search tirelessly for that coveted loophole which they will never find. The Bible is black and white on many issues but they just can't accept that this is one of those issues.
Jesus thought Sodom and Gomorrah should be remembered when he retold the story:
But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all...Remember Lot's wife. (Luke 17:29,32)
The Apostle Peter's teaching included instruction about Sodom and Gomorrah in his short epistle:
And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into cinders and ashes condemned them in judgment with a catastrophe, making them an example to them that afterwards would live in an ungodly or wicked manner. - 2 Peter 2:6 (adapted from interlinear Bible)
Abraham prayed and reasoned with God on Sodom's behalf (Genesis 18). Ten righteous men could not be found in the city. Lot and part of his family escaped but the city was destroyed (Genesis 19)
Lot and his daughters lived in a cave for a while afterwards as protection against the destruction of fiery rock and stone again falling from the sky.

When you separate life from love in the marital union, you don't have "real marriage." Hamilton is being completely consistent. The right to homosexual marriage eventually emerges from this milieu.
Hamilton does violence to the Scriptures to reach his conclusions. Not only does he compare a negative (progressives wanting to abolish slavery) with a positive (progressives wanting to endorse homosexuality), which is a logical fallacy, he ignores the entirety of the scriptures that uphold and centralize real marriage, and thus destroys the doctrine of Christ and the Church.
