A campaign by “gay” activists to open the Boy Scouts of America to homosexuals has stalled, with a decision today by the BSA executive committee meeting in Irving, Texas, to not vote on the proposed policy change until May.
The vote to open the ranks to homosexuality was expected today after the organization said last week it was considering a new policy that would allow local Scouting organizations to establish their own rules for membership. But in the meantime, a tidal wave of opposition surged.
The BSA said in a statement today: “After careful consideration and extensive dialogue within the Scouting family, along with comments from those outside the organization, the volunteer officers of the Boy Scouts of America’s National Executive Board concluded that due to the complexity of this issue, the organization needs time for a more deliberate review of its membership policy.”...
I don't like that they "kicked the can down the road either" it's weak and shows no courage. Lukewarmness that should be spewed from your mouth for being neither hot nor cold. What is right and what is wrong doesn't change from February to May. It smacks of trying to sneak it through when nobody's looking.
I was in AWANA for a couple of years when I was young. I loved it. This was when I was living with one of my foster families in WI and my foster dad, Roy Koopman, was one of the founders. He and his wife Betty are still heavily involved. "Firmly AWANA stands, led by the Lord's command, approved workman are not ashamed, boys and girls for His service claim, hail AWANA marching for the truth, hail AWANA, standing up for youth, building lives for the word of God, AWANA stands ...la-la-la. That was a bit of our motto song.
When I used the word homo one time, you guys rained down fire and brimstone...what gives?
Bro. James, I wish you well in your campaign, since I know people who are associated with the Boy Scouts.
Actually dragging out of allowing queers in the Scouts or even to have brought it up will make conservative churches, why the hassle and replace the Scouting program with entirely with such organizations as Awana, in any event just cut the Scouting program. They just did themselves more damage by kicking the can down the road, a can that shouldn't have to be kicked in the first place.
This could actually be a bad thing. They just move the vote down the road giving time for the public outcry to wain and then they vote the ungodly policies in to place while the righteous are "asleep". We must not go to sleep on this one friends! We must continue to put pressure on BSA just as the Homo's do or they will succeed in destroying the organization. We must continue to call the national headquarters WEEKLY and encourage them to stand up for our boys and to not give in to political pressure from the homo's. this is not a political issue it is about keeping the youth in the BSA safe (and to quote the Scout Oath) and "MORALLY STRAIGHT". Lastly, we must PRAY without ceasing for the exec. board of the BSA that God would sway the hearts and minds of those that are pushing the homo agenda on the Boy Scouts.
On a personal note I am an Eagle Scout and I called the natl.office and expressed my concerns and encouraged them to stand firm. I also let them know that should the homos take over the Scouts that I would personally revoke the honor of being an Eagle Scout and that I would be returning my Eagle Badge to them and that I will also call upon all Eagle Scouts to recant the honor, rites and privileges of that rank and ask them as we'll to return their Eagle Badge to the B
