Poll: Majority Now Believe Gov't Threatens Freedom

For the first time since 1995, when Pew Research Center began asking the question, a majority of Americans believe that the federal government threatens their personal freedoms and rights.

Fifty-three percent of respondents answered, "yes," while 43 percent answered, "no," when asked if the "federal government threatens your personal rights and freedoms." The Jan. 9-13 Pew Research Center poll of 1,502 adults has a margin of error of 2.9 percentage points.

Before this month's poll, the previous highs were in June 2000, and March 2010, when 46 and 47 percent, respectively, thought government posed a threat to freedom. The lowest levels of concern for federal government infringement on personal liberty were in November 2001, and August 2002, when 30 and 32 percent, respectively, were concerned about loss of freedom from the federal government. ...

I did, & found that the South was afraid (having no basis in Presidential action as yet) that the North would not do their bit to let the South keep their wretched slaves. That was the primary point at issue in all the Ordinances of Secession, starting with S.C.:
"For 20 years past the abolitionists & their allies in the Northern States have been engaged in constant efforts to subvert our institutions & to excite insurrection & servile war among us."

So States' Rights here meant the right of Southern whites to deprive blacks of their rights. That's what the concept means to blacks, who remember how their political rights were eliminated by the states after the North gave up on Reconstruction.

Yep, and it's old news since it says "for the first time since 1995". Really? What about 2002 after 9/11 and the Bush Administration began trampling the Constitution for a Homeland Tyranny (aka Security) government, USA PATRIOT ACT, and surveillance state that makes Orwell look like a prophet? It only shows how republicans are so blind when their own party (filled with blind evangelicals) does it. Apparently it's only noticed under Democrat administrations.

But this has be going on since FDR (Social Security and New Deal laws) and Woodrow Wilson (who imprisoned dissent for WWI)...back further to 1861 (read why the Southern states really seceded)...yeah, go back to the Anti-Federalist speeches of Christian statesmen like Patrick Henry and Samuel Adams before 1787 and the Constitution's ratification!

The Centralized government has constantly been usurping since State's Rights were overthrown for a Consolidated "Big Government". And republicans have been no friend either, historically, esp.

...or the Republicans have gotten so right wing you can tell them from the Posse Comitatus (organization).

Hey, but relax God is in control and things are going according to his plan even if The world is a more corrupt place now than it was three years ago, a poll suggests.

The Future Western World Government is in God's hands.

"Seventy-six percent of conservative Republicans now say they are concerned about the federal government ..."
""The percentage of Democrats saying they are concerned has not changed much ...""

Interesting that Republicans are concerned where Democrats are not.

Democrats are of course much more socialist and Liberal and prefer Big-Brother government to tell them what to think and do and make their decisions for them like good socialists.

This illustrates the style of political thinking in America today and how Obama has been able to get elected by those who see him as a 'messiah' type.

America is changing and not for the better. Freedom of speech and religion are not being taken away - but being given up by many in America today.

Amen Angela , we must do something before we wind up enslaved to our government . Freedom of speech is on the decline, right to bear arms is on the decline, freedom of religion. It's getting worse . Traditional family values , defining of marriage between man and woman, healthcare. I thought the government worked for us. It's obvious it dosent . If it keeps up we are gonna be sorry.

The government is hard at work taking away all our freedoms. Only a blind person in a coma would not be able to see that. But. As usual we lie down and accept it. But I wont
