The Rev. Robert Jeffress has changed the way he talks about homosexuality from the pulpit.
The pastor of the 11,000-member First Baptist Dallas hasn't stopped preaching that homosexual sex is sinful, but he no longer singles it out for special condemnation. Now, Jeffress says he usually talks about homosexuality within "a bigger context of God's plan for sex between one man and one woman in a lifetime relationship called marriage."
"It would be the height of hypocrisy to condemn homosexuality and not adultery or unbiblical divorce," he said, explaining that the Bible allows divorce only in cases of adultery or desertion. He also includes premarital sex on that list....
This article is misleading. The pastor mentioned just decided to become more biblical in noticing sin, 1 Corinthians 6:9-10, which Frank pointed out their is more than one, This pastor hasn't denied that The Bible Says Homosexuality is Sin.
In the late 19th and early 20th century and a topic that Luther ignored, and drinking may have been a problem with him--thanks for the quote!--

There is more than one way to sin. The article didn't really point out that the pastor mentioned in the article, was saying homosexuality wasn't a bad sin, and still is, though the article was trying to imply that.

Now I would simply ask everyone, which of the below sins are societies around the world trying to get legitimized or tolerated by churches and cultures in general? Now, if the effeminate (homosexuals) is the one, then why would we simply not direct our fight where the fight is. If someone comes to me and says they think adultery should be accepted by the church, then that is the fight I would fight. But in America, it is homosexuality, greed and egalitarianism, so concentrating on them is the right thing to do. We must guard the genuine church against those things that are attacking it. If I say adultery is an abomination to God, no one accuses me of hate speech.

The wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness, but if you continue reading Romans 1 it is quite clear God has an extra special indignation against those who practise same-sex behaviour. Dishonouring their bodies between themselves . . . vile affections . . . reprobate mind . . . worthy of death etc.
Mr. Jeffress is right, there are more sexual temptations and sins that are problems in the church. But, open endorsement of homosexuality in the culture must be met with a clear, unambiguous stance against it. ALL sexual perversions should be met with the Holy word, not subjective preaching or reasoning.

I don't agree because there are differing levels of sin and punishment, right? Just more watering down of the Word so as not to offend anyone. Now that gay love is no worse than stealing a magazine out of the Doctors office, those living in that sin can breath a huge sigh of relief. Whew! Seems to me that the Pastors who are spreading this false hope/leniency will be held personally responsible for their fate in some way.
