Evangelical Christian advocates for broad immigration reform have warmly welcomed a proposal offered by a bipartisan group of United States senators.
Republicans and four Democrats outlined Monday (Jan. 28) their plan for addressing what has been a hotly debated issue for years as an estimated 11 million illegal, or undocumented, immigrants have made their homes in this country. Congress has not made a serious attempt since 2007 to repair what seemingly everyone acknowledges as a broken immigration system.
In their written framework, the senators -- who include Democrat Charles Schumer of New York and Republican Marco Rubio of Florida -- said they intend to pass a permanent solution that commits the "resources needed to secure the border, modernize and streamline our current legal immigration system, while creating a tough but fair legalization program for individuals who are currently here."...
Well I personally think we should treat illegals kindly and lovingly while we are either arresting them or deporting them out of the country. Now, if someone objects to that, then they should pass a law saying they are legal. You can't have it both ways unless someone wants to play politics with the law.
That's an easy question to answer Christopher. Just look into the immigration problem between Guatamala and Mexico. The Mexican govt. puts the Guatemalans in jail.
I think this is a lot of fluff that won't go any further that the spoken words...I just don't think it will all work. I didn't notice it in the article, but the illegals will also, supposedly, be required to pay all of the state and federal back taxes they would have owed since beginning work here however many years ago. Goos luck with that. I find it interesting that the government can break or adjust the laws of the land at will. I break a law and prison, or whatever, here I come. "Illegal" aliens. Let's see, what would happen if I went to Mexico and tried to pull the same thing...
