Mark Driscoll on Inauguration Day: Obama Likely Knows Neither God nor Bible

As Americans tuned in to watch President Barack Obama be sworn into office for his second term on Jan. 21, a number of Christian leaders took to their Twitter accounts to offer reaction.

Arguably the most impassioned remark came from Pastor Mark Driscoll, founding pastor of Mars Hill Church in Seattle, Wash., who wrote that Obama knows neither God or the Bible. "Praying for our president, who today will place his hands on a Bible he does not believe to take an oath to a God he likely does not know," Driscoll tweeted. The Mars Hill Church pastor's tweet was retweeted by more than 2,100 people.

The president has publicly professed his faith in God many times, but also has been accused by conservatives of attacking religious freedom, most notably with the Affordable Care Act that mandates religious employers to offer insurance that covers birth control, including abortifacient, to their employees. ...

At least someone is publically making statements about what the President has said that is encouraging this nation into a more sinful direction. Many preachers are like Jonah and unwilling to speak out for fear of being labled. Run to speak for God again against sin in His Love, but do speak!

Driscoll has noticed something that many people have noticed for a long time. I think a bigger issue is the division between blacks and whites in the Church, and the preaching of people of Jeremiah Wright, which only leads to more blame and division (eg. "a white man's greed keeps the world in need"). It is well known that 99 percent of blacks voted for Obama, and that includes Christians who went right after church before election day in states that have early voting. And that is despite Obama's mother being white and his father an African, someone who never experienced slavery (from whites that is).

I appreciate SermonAudio posting this "stuff" because like it or not these are the circumstances we are living in the midst of AND while we might not be fans of such "celebrities" others who like them and those who don't are in our lives, people the Lord would have us witness the Truth to.
Remember in His earthly ministry Jesus spoke somewhat often of the Pharisee making His disciples aware of their errors etc. AND even commenting on how they had seated themselves in the chair of Moses and how that affected them.
Your right, I just need to limit my news intake. This is all just running a bit thin for me right now.

Hey, good post, Dorcas. I've been searching for more of these. I've listened to many but only about the older ones, nobody from the recent past, or even better...current.

In his tweet shared Sunday, Christian minister John Piper argued that Obama's support of abortion stands against the ideals that civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. stood for, whose day of remembrance falls on inauguration day this year.

Let's see; you have Piper who endorses Rick Warren who is a heretic and now you have him alluding to Martin Luther King's ideals who was unitarian in his theology and "if I'm not mistaken", openly committed adultery on his wife and when questioned said something to the effect that God would not want him to be lonely when he had to frequently travel. There is pretty good evidence of his adultery and theology, but perhaps his response is not accurate?

Good video jj33. I admit Sproul's comment surprised me somwhat. But that just tends to support your statement about celebrities.

Here is a video clip of RC Sproul and Driscol talking about golf and Alice Cooper being a Christian.

Is it not time to put these celebrities behind us?

Why does SA post this stuff?

Thanks Michael. I vaguely remember hearing the name Piper somewhere but didn't know who he was, and never heard of Mr Driscoll. So, they are not good people to listen to, I guess, if they are friends of Rick Warren...whom I do know of?

I appreciate your confidence in me that I would seek to share accurate information in the things of God and what is going on in the churches and among the (quote) teachers of today.

So please do this for both our sakes, thoroughly research and check out things I or others you respect might post to you. These men might indeed raise a red flag of warning as to their "friendship" with Rick Warren but that is not the entirety of who they are or what they are doing and honesty requires if we go beyond that in talking about them that we know what we are talking about AND if in honesty they say some good things, those good comments stand whether or not who they are friends with, maybe we won't want to join with them in "friendship" with Rick Warren and give them some distance. It is kind of like tares among the wheat, let's be careful to not rip up the tares lest the wheat (our brothers and sisters in Christ) be damaged because they do not understand why.

Hmmmm, Popular Religious Celebrities

"Friends" of Rick Warren imo the foremost false teacher in the U.S. today due to his seducing pastors into making their churches pleasing to the world so the world will attend (among other things like his support of Barak Hussein Obama despite his stance for partial birth abortion and his signing of Loving God and Neighbor Together which is essentially "Chislam" in its content.

Religious Celebrities who sometimes say good (humanly speaking) things.

I heard one man on the radio commenting on Oprah Winfrey's absence at the inagruation who thought she had attended for a short time Jeremiah Wright's Church, who would like to as her

- Why did she leave?
- What does she make of Obama staying?

Interesting Questions.

Now a question I would like to ask is 'Why in the world did the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir sing at the inaguration of Obama's second term?'
Isn't there sufficient evidence his twisted beliefs are quite anitchristian.

Especially since
2 John 9-11

I hope Pastor Driscoll isn't pressured into apologizing for his tweets. Maybe he's tough enough to handle all the hatred and venom the Obamaites are sending his way.
