Episcopal Gay-Affirming Pastor Chosen to Replace Louie Giglio for Obama Benediction
An Episcopal pastor from a church not far from the White House has been chosen to replace evangelical Christian pastor Louie Giglio of Passion City Church to perform the official benediction at President Barack Obama's public inauguration on Jan. 21.
The Rev. Dr. Luis León has led Saint John's Church in Washington, D.C. since 1995, and was invited last week to deliver the benediction, CNN reported. He also delivered the invocation at George W. Bush's second inauguration in 2005
I wasn't born again, but when Bush was elected, I was srill ecstatic. I thought the country was in for something really good ahead and I was really excited about it. Well, since then, whenever a candidate or elected official mentions that he/she is a Christian, I no longer get excited. Rather, I just sit back and think, "yeah, we'll see".
President Obama and/or his inaugural committee can have anyone they want. This is somewhat their business. Babyface Bush, made certain the gospel wasn't heard in his second inaugural.
as far as I saw the person being replaced wasn't all that great anyway, but it is interesting though is being replaced by, and no doubt many Episcopalians would like to replace him in the pulpit--When Will They Ever Learn? Mainline Decline in Perspective.
