Mars rover finally looks set to drill

Nasa's Curiosity rover is very close to drilling into its first Martian rock, with the set-up operation likely to begin next week.

After breaking for the holidays, the mission team would be raring to undertake the task in the coming days, said lead scientist John Grotzinger.

The robot has driven about 650m from its landing site, dropping down into a depression known as Yellowknife Bay.

It is in this depression that the target rock will probably be chosen.

By the way, I meant to mention that the rover looks like it was about to tip over in this photo. I wonder how they negotiated that bit of terrain without it tipping over.

I believe the technology is real and I have no doubt we walked on the moon eirher. Yes, I've heard all the arguments from the Coast to Coasters but don't believe that it was a hoax to beat the Russians to the punch.

Because there is enough evidence that they were taken on Mars. I'm one of 89% or 94% who think the engineers and scientists on the space program are telling the truth. Who do you think they are? televangelists? :-7

why do we even believe this is a real photo of a robot on Mars? How do we really know a rover is even on Mars? it could just as easily be a photo of someone's Arizona backyard. The whole space program is a ploy to keep people from focusing on the serious problem we all face right here on our own planet, namely SIN. Beware of oppositions of science falsely so called, and be sure to question any new "discoveries" they make. we live in an age of intense fakery used to deceive and coerce the minds and opinions of people. Remember all the cave-man talk a few years ago that was exposed as incorrect or outright fraudulent. Be careful how you see and hear and dont allow yourself to be manipulated. Peace to all.

As I think I have pointed out on SA sometime ago in another thread, I was watching a farm show, and the person on it pointed out something that hadn't occurred to me--if there had been life on Mars in significant amounts, there would be dark bands left where that life had been. You notice are dirt runs from brown to black?

There is nothing in the Bible that says there can't be life "out there," In fact it isn't demonic life, at least it will so far away, we will never contact via radio, let alone have visits from them or they from us.

Now, if they want to get life to Mars, all they have to find is gold or rare metals on Mars, and you would have a contest building rockets to Mars. Unfortunately the way I also understand it, if earthlings started living on Mars and get acclimated to it's gravity they couldn't come back to earth.

This whole business has an air of desperation about it: There just *has* to be life out there — statistics say so.

Only problem for Darwinist probabilists is, any talk of probability (4th-grade math) is meaningless unless one has two integers on hand: the total of all outcomes, & the number of desired outcomes. How can these ever be known? Not even in the present can they be known, let alone the past.

This is *your* government at work, spending taxpayers' money on wishful thinking. There are plenty of rich Darwinists out there, let them pay for it.

When the rover has done its drilling down through the Mars outer crust down to about six feet, the little green men will emerge in an angry mood and with super technology will fly down to earth and take over.
This will make the scientists and evolutionists very happy since it comes from their belief that the other planets were/are populated with aliens.
On the other hand what may happen is that the drill will discover martian rock, martian rock and more martian rock.
I think most if not all evolutionists when they look up at the night sky see a zoo just waiting to be explored. When I was young and crazy about Star Trek and similar media, I felt the same way. But as I study the Bible I find the universe to be more of a sculpture than a zoo. In the very unlikely event that God made life elsewhere in the universe, it would have to be subject to the same Biblical time line that we on earth are (creation, fall, destruction, and re-creation of the universe). Which makes Star Trek and similar programs now seem about as real and possible to me as Lord of the Rings and other such fantasy. Very entertaining--even inspiring, but also very (at least potentially) distracting. From learning REAL things, like the Bible, history, etc.
