Church of England ends ban on 'gay' bishops

The Church of England has lifted a ban on gay male clergy who live with their partners from becoming bishops on condition they pledge to stay celibate, threatening to reignite an issue that splits the 80-million-strong global Anglican community.

The issue of homosexuality has driven a rift between Western and African Anglicans since a Canadian diocese approved blessings for same-sex couples in 2002 and U.S. Anglicans in the Episcopal Church appointed an openly gay man as a bishop in 2003.

The Church of England, struggling to remain relevant in modern Britain despite falling numbers of believers, is already under pressure after voting narrowly last November to maintain a ban on women becoming bishops. ...

I would still add, that,

Robert Shindler, a Baptist pastor and close associate of Spurgeon's wrote:
...they adopted a different strain in preaching, dwelt more on general principles of religion, and less on the vital truths of the gospel. Ruin by sin, regeneration by the Holy Spirit, and redemption by the blood of Christ— truths on the preaching of which God has always set the seal of his approbation—were conspicuous chiefly by their absence. In fact, the "wine on the lees well refined" was so mixed with the muddy water of human speculation, that it was no longer wine at all.
excerpt from The Down Grade. This article first appeared in an 1887 Sword & Trowel issue. Sounds still relevant today, oh, the article itself was complaining not just about the Anglican Church, but Presbyterians, Baptists, of various stripes as well. Spurgeon was in hot water with his fellow Baptists over this article 'til the end of his life.

Key words-the CofE wants to be "relevant in modern Britain." Salt and light? No way.

Do not be afraid of what Scripture declares for it is the Word of God.

But the Remnant will be saved.
However judging by their evil abhorent and iniquitous witness this does not include the deceiving Church of England.

May God rebuke them and remove this satanic Liberal influence from the gullible of England.

God's righteous justice is always consistent.
Gen 19:24 Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven; 25 And he overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground.

We all deserve to burn eternally for even the idle time and words uttered in this last hour.

Rufus, it should be understood that the overseer's "wife," is a woman and not a man!

Matthew 19
3 And some Pharisees came to Him, testing Him, and saying, "Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any cause at all?"
4 And He answered and said, "Have you not read, that He who created them from the beginning MADE THEM MALE AND FEMALE,
5 and said, 'FOR THIS CAUSE A MAN SHALL LEAVE HIS FATHER AND MOTHER, AND SHALL CLEAVE TO HIS WIFE; AND THE TWO SHALL BECOME ONE FLESH'?
6 "Consequently they are no longer two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate."---NASB

But as a Spurgeon magazine piece pointed out,
'...the State Church, which the great reformers had planted, and which some of them had watered with their blood, presented the spectacle which went far to justify the sarcasm of an eminent writer, that she possessed "A Popish Liturgy, a Calvinistic Creed, and an Arminian Clergy."' excerpt from the The Down Grade.

The Anglican Church has always been a false church, people who are or want to be Christians should come out of it. What to Look for i

What a great comment! Most Christians don't list egalitarianism and feminism in the list of evils that actually caused the other things to come about. You listed them which is rare indeed. Pastors don't really go there and most of our conservative media don't touch it either.

Christopher, the reason they don't believe a bolt of lightening will strike them down is because they aren't believers.

Oh, give me a break. Continue living with your homosexual partner but make sure the relationship remains hands off. Right.

How can any homosexual preach God's word from the pulpit and not be afraid that they would be struck by lightening at any moment? Do they think that if they preach His word, even though they practice this depravity, they will be accepted, and the abomination will be overlooked simply because they were preachers?

What a deluded bunch. What nerve to teach God's word and then go home and fornicate with homosexual partners.

The once stalwart Church of England, The Episcopal Church, The Church of Scotland, The Presbyterian Church, The Methodist Church and The Lutheran Church have all fallen on the sword of egalitarianism, abortion, feminism, women's ordination and, now, openly gay clergy.
