Gingrich: Conservatives have to accept marriage 'equality'
On gay marriage, meanwhile, Gingrich argued that Republicans could no longer close their eyes to the course of public opinion. While he continued to profess a belief that marriage is defined as being between a man and a woman, he suggested that the party (and he himself) could accept a distinction between a "marriage in a church from a legal document issued by the state" -- the latter being acceptable.
"I think that this will be much more difficult than immigration for conservatism to come to grips with," he said, noting that the debate's dynamics had changed after state referenda began resulting in the legalization of same-sex marriage. "It is in every family. It is in every community. The momentum is clearly now in the direction in finding some way to ... accommodate and deal with reality. And the reality is going to be that in a number of American states -- and it will be more after 2014 -- gay...

Gingrich: "Conservatives have to accept marriage 'equality.'"
Mike from New York: "No they don't."
Jim, celibacy is irrelevant in terms of homosexuality.
Not to defend RCism, but they aren't the ones promoting SSM in Washington, where it matters. I think I heard a friend of yours pushing it.
anyone who knows who got G into politics and what the philosophy is behind it, would never call him a conservative. but the Reps did their best to sell it to the evangelical Christians. the truth always eventually comes out. just another globalist.
Martin, thanks for pointing out, The Secular Case Against Gay Marriage even though published in 2004, the arguments made in it are as cogent today as they were then.
Rufus, what is the surprise, The Newt has been married three times and he converts to the religion of his wife each time, this time Romish Catholic. Like the UK when the US accepts the sodomite assault on marriage and the Scriptures then the wrath of God will be known to increase as Romans Chapter one illustrates.
God wrote the Bible. Man has been trying to change it, modify it and amend it according to his depraved and iniquitous convictions for millennia.
Rev 22:19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
This is utter lunacy on Gingrich's part. Instead of "caving in" on the issue of marriage because of widespread public ignorance on this issue. conservatives need to take an even stronger stand and educate the clueless voting public about the negative consequences of legalizing so-called "gay marriage." As Christians, our supreme appeal is to the Word of God, of course, but there is also a place for using "common sense" arguments to show the negative effects of redefining marriage in our society. We should utilize arguments like those used by Adam Kolasinki in his essay "The Secular Case Against Gay Marriage" in commending the wisdom of God's standards to our fellow citizens. We also need to demonstrate that "economic" issues are inseparable from "moral" issues. Check out this article: http://tech.mit.edu/V124/N5/kolasinski.5c.html
By his marital fruits it is quite plain Mr. Gingrich has little to no understanding of what marriage is. People need to stop pretending that he is some sort of voice of conservatives and cast him into the ash heap of history as merely another liberal posing as a conservative.
