Boehner Caves Pitches 'Millionaire' Tax Hike

Speaker John Boehner has proposed allowing tax rates to rise for the wealthiest Americans if President Barack Obama agrees to major entitlement cuts, according to several sources close to the talks.

It is the first time Boehner has offered any boost in marginal tax rates for any income group, and it would represent a major concession for the Ohio Republican. Boehner suggested hiking the Bush-era tax rates for top wage earners, including those with annual incomes of $1 million or more annually, beginning Jan. 1, two sources said. ...

Actually Jim I believe in the free enterprise system. Here is the U.S. it is over regualated but still has most of the semblance of what a free enterprise system is. A business man or woman will take a risk and put their capital into selling of a good or service. They do that because they believe they can make a profit. If I treat my buyers roughly, rip them off, have a product or service that does not live up to its reputation, etc. people will not pay for it and I will go out of business. So, the more they help others, the more they help themselves. A biblical principal, give and it shall be given you and do unto others as you would have them do unto you. If you thought your gas station was cheating you at the pump, you would go somewhere else. Their motive may be entirely selfish and not altruistic but they benefit by giving you the best product for the best price. You have examples of people who abuse the system that you can give links to, because they are in jail.

UPS, I find it strange you are the one taking the liberal position on the goodness of man! The financial system of the U.S. is much like the Dodge city of the 19th century. "Beautiful Bibulous Babylon of the Frontier" They finally had to establish a dividing line where guns could be carried, so bad guys could have fun, and where they couldn't be carried where decent people could live in relative safety, q.v., "The Wickedest Little City in America". Now, I didn't say that all of Wall St./Financial system was run by crooks, though I won't hazard a guess how many of them are, because apparently there are too many. Not only does there need to be laws to punish the bad guys but an honest enough government structure to carry out the enforcement. In fact sometimes a change in structure is just a big improvement as the (Catholic -- see I can say nice things about Catholics, even though they turn the GOP into a '"Christian" "Democrat"' one. anyway, q.v., Paul Ryan: ‘I Agree’ We Need To Reinstate Glass-Steagall. So clear indelible lines have to be drawn on Wall St. and wherever the investment bankers are.

UPS, will if Obama is that then the many of the Republicans are Fascists? One of the saddest days in American history when the Dixiecrats decided to become Dixiecans. He has not proved that radical at all on economic issues. Now social issues that's a different matter entirely. In fact as I have occasionally pointed out, Why Can't Obama Bring Wall Street to Justice?
So, no, a lot of Obama supporters are apparently unhappy he wasn't/isn't radical enough. I consider that Bill Moyers Show one of his more sedate ones in fact. It even has a (former?) Republican official on it as well as a woman who did a lot on Wall Street, if memory serves. It's really is time no matter what to make Republican or any other governmental/business crook toe the line. One that isn't made in sand.
That operates under the assumption that Wall Street and Corporations are all corrupt. I can't agree with the premise, so I definitely won't agree with the conclusions that are drawn.

Obama is a leftist socialist, something Eisenhower was not. Jim never quite gets it. The left in general have poor memories, as well as being horrible at math. The reason Obama has this this huge need for revenue, is himself and his greedy cronies in Congress. It's because of his ridiculous spending that each year he has been in office there have been trillion dollar deficits. Now he demands tax increases, and moans about doing something about the deficit, because in his words it's "unsustainable." Absolutely deceptive and hypocritical. It is HIS "fiscal cliff." He owns it.

This was something of an entertaining show, well not to reactionaries, but it was fun to hear that Obama is an Eisenhower Republican These folks also pointed out we should go over the fiscal cliff! I see you can get a printed transcript if you look at the lower left hand corner of the webpage of, Full Show: Fiscal Cliffs and Fiscal Realities.
Make the Republicans walk the plank!
