Teacher Victoria Soto used her body to shield her students from the maniacal gunman who launched a massacre at a Connecticut school, relatives said Saturday.
Soto paid for her bravery with her life. But in doing so, the 27-year-old may have saved her first-graders from the murderous wrath of Adam Lanza — and became a hero.
“The family received information she was found shielding her students in a closet,” Soto’s cousin Jim Wiltsie told the Daily News. “She put herself between the gunman and her students.”...

Thanks bro, I will have a listen to this one on the Lord's Day. To God be the glory, great things he hath done!

Just an add on to my previous comment. Vickie Soto the young teacher hero who was killed shielding her students was a Christian. So God was not absent - He was very much with Vicky. You make God very weird when you say He is not in school because there is no public prayer. Besides, public prayer can be hypocritcical if you force those who are not believers to pray.
Yes, she and apparently the principal and perhaps some others laid their lives down for the children.
Romans 5 7 For one will hardly die for a righteous man; though perhaps for the good man someone would dare even to die. 8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him. 10 For if while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.---NASB
Ah, gentlemen, I think you over-estimate the power human stupidity, greed, and just plain evil to think you could cure even the problems of starvation etc., e.g., Rampage hits 'Untouchables' AGAIN in India.
Of course there are instances in which,"Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime."--Chinese proverb, but often as not, "Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach him how to fish, and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day." Geo. Carlin

That right. Just the cost of one nuclear submarine would transform an entire country and correctly portray the Christian message.
And I would rather trust my life to God than to an armed force with nuclear weaponry. But then, the guvs are all either unbelieving or they are liberal believers who unleash their weapons saying, "Lord, guide this missile and kill loads."

It's also interesting that the atheist does not believe in the existence of God, yet blames him whenever anything untoward happens.
The heart of man is "desperately wicked", and evil doesn't need much prodding to become active. Within each person there is the germ of a murderer, even of a genocidal maniac. If God had left us to ourselves, we should have blown each other up by now. There is the ability in weaponry now to raze the planet. God's grace really is most remarkable.
And I still think it's a pity that little children starve to death in some countries, while the west focuses on building bigger and better arsenals of destruction.
You know, while pagan society says, "where was your God?", and while the ignorant and weak blame God, allowing their faith to be fractured, I say, "folks, Satan is still alive and well on planet Earth". I hate when people put the blame on God whenever anything terrible happens, forgetting all about Satan; giving him no credit whatsoever. I try to see God in every situation. In this situation, I see Him giving teachers the strength and courage to protect His children, I see Him not allowing even more carnage to have taken place, I see Him sparing the lives of many, even though a small fraction lost theirs, I see Him making a clear path for the first responders to get there within minutes, I see Him allowing Adam to take his own life rather than killing even more children which he had the resources to do. Through the smoke and sadness, this is what I see.
