Poll: Religion, Bible Most Often Cited Reasons for Opposing Gay Marriage
Religious beliefs and the Bible are the most often cited reasons for opposing gay marriage, according to a USA Today/Gallup poll. Those who favor gay marriage are most likely to mention equal rights or personal choice as the reasons for their position.
Among those who oppose same-sex marriage, Gallup asked an open-ended question -- "what are some of the reasons you oppose legal same-sex marriages?" Forty-seven percent of those respondents defended their position on the basis of religious beliefs or the Bible. Another 20 percent said marriage should be between a man and a woman and 16 percent said gay marriage is morally wrong or that they have traditional beliefs about marriage....
The issue I have with all of this is as follows, I support DOMA however, all of the laws aren't going to prevent individuals from this behavior. It isn't going to stop homesexuality. It isn't going to make people want to get married. You can focus on our laws and argue all you want, I'll stand beside you the entire time. At some point we are going to have to make an impact on the culture!

This has already occurred in Australia, Ghana, India, the United States and likely elsewhere. Whether or not these ceremonies were legally binding, I doubt it, but they went through the ceremony with a priest etc.

Proud Papa, You bring up the insanity of all of this nonsense. Those who push for same-sex marriage are usually the same group pushing abortion on demand. All the while our country is in a desperate economic crossroads. The same people advocating more taxes are the same who push for the above. Blindness, spiritual blindness. We need to pray for them and for a modern Reformation.
Here is a reason. How about the worsening birth implosion. If we continue down this path to let people of the same gender get married compounded with the womb to tomb policies that are in affect there wont be any people left. Here is another reason if we overturn DOMA (defense of marriage act) and we redefine marriage where does it end? What is next? Will we allow people to marry animals in the next 50 years? That sounds absurd, but just 30 years ago this gay marriage nonsense seemed absurd. Just something to think about. I personally always use these reasons before I use the Biblical reasons (though those are perfectly valid reasons considering they are FROM GOD HIMSELF!!!)
