Rick Warren on Gay Marriage: 'Tolerance Does Not Mean Approval'

Saddleback Church pastor Rick Warren has said that being tolerant of homosexuals does not mean one approves of their choices, while appearing on "CBS This Morning" Tuesday to promote the re-release of his book, The Purpose Driven Life, on the 10th anniversary of its publication.

The California megachurch pastor said that according to the Bible, people need to be tolerant of all views, just like Jesus was – but that does not mean approving of all choices.

"Gay marriage is a very personal question," Warren responded when asked why he does not support it. "I have biblical views regarding what marriage is about. I am not in favor of redefining marriage, I'm not. It's not illegal to have a gay relationship, so it's not a big issue to me." ...

God made Adam and Eve, not Adam & Steve. Like Sodom & Gomorrah was, God will send fire of the same city who does this abomination.

Tolerance is too often used to silence those who affirm the truth. There a wonderful video that documents many cases where same-sex "marriage" advocates physically assault peaceful American citizens for simply defending true marriage. Here's the footage: http://www.tfpstudentaction.org/what-we-do/news-and-updates/video-release-attacked-by-tolerance.html

you are right, i mispoke, rick warren is not "the antichrist" but he is a mouthpiece for "the antichrist" and he does represent the spirit of antichrist in his blaspemies. sorry for the confusion but my point was to express how terribly deceptive he and others like him are and how terribly decieved the posters are at the christian post. peace.

sodomy destroys people. the one acquantance I had that was gay died of colon cancer.
the family unit is under assault. instead of eating up this slavery, the scriptures call us into a life of service to one another, redeeming the lost relationship between Adam and Eve. it is a beautiful thing, I think of the Osb lady getting her anatomy chopped off just in case she gets cancer-- this is all insanity, destruction of body and soul.
Praise God that through Christ we can be forgiven and live a new life through Him. One must count the cost, but the cost is worth it. Amen.
so many in the lifestyle seem angry, and they may think that getting rid of the Christians will make them feel better, but ultimately, I believe they are in conflict with their conscience and the order of the world as made by the Creator.
Well said, JPW.

Hello, if generally close to Rome means you adhere to Catholicism, I have an offer for you. I wrote a 48 page meditation that I call the cult of Catholicism 101. It also includes a portion on what the real gospel is and how to be saved. If you want it, just email me and I'll send it.

Jesus told the woman taken in adultery Go and sin no more. Adultery, Fornication, Homosexuals, and Lesbians. According to the bible they are sin. We need to repent our our SINS and trust Christ not Obama as our Lord and Savior.

The authority of a man of God is the Word of God.
Does it matter what I personally think or I what I personally believe?
I am not in the same situation he was, but he missed an opportunity to state very clearly what God's Word says about homosexuality.

On a similar subject, many pastors do not actually believe the Bible is God's Word. Many pastors have an eclectic view of God, Jesus, and true Christianity: They prefer to call themselves Christians, but they just pick out only what they like. They like to talk about love, but they throw out all the parts about discipleship and the wrath of God coming upon the sons of disobedience, etc.

Does Rick Warren believe all the Bible? Maybe he does.

this article is shocking even coming from rick warren. what is even more disturbing is to read the comments from the posters at thechristianpost. i am amazed at the way modern "christians" think. their comments are truly twisted and shocking. btw some people do refer to themselves as protestant and are thankful for what that word means and Jesus dod NOT tolerate any sinful behavior contrary to his blasphemous assertion. rick warren is the antichrist, may the LORD rebuke him.

"Saddleback Church pastor Rick Warren has said that being tolerant of homosexuals"

Perhaps Mr Warren has problems reading the Bible.

Does he really think this is "tolerance"???....
Lev 18:22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is ABOMINATION.
24 DEFILE not ye yourselves in any of these things: for in all these the nations ARE DEFILED which I cast out before you:
25 And THE LAND IS DEFILED: therefore I do visit the iniquity thereof upon it, and the land itself vomiteth out her inhabitants."

Considering the verse on homosexuality is placed between the burning of babies in idolatry and - beastiality - - (do we tolerate that too) - Perhaps the truth is that Mr Warren cannot read/receive the truth in Scripture!!!

Sodomy defiles the very land we live on according to the Word and laws of God.

So the Bible says we're suppose to be tolerant of all views? Well, I guess this is how Mr Warren has added "Mega" to his church.
